| Mixed bag from Ainscough tbh.
I'm pretty pleased to see he hasn't been bagged for the defeat on here though. I expected to come on here last night and read that the whole defeat was basically the lads fault. I'd have loved to have seen him outside Gleeson last night and hopefully that will be the case next week(if Goulding isn't fit).

| We really did miss gleeson last night I thought. Thought Ainy was pretty poor to be honest, a couple of defensive errors led to 2 quins tries and I expected alot better from him considering it was his first game back from injury. Thought all of the backs bar phelps where pretty average last night, phelpsy looked alot better than he has done in previous weeks as I think he has now got his fitness back.
Excellent game from a certain Liam Farrell, head and shoulders above any of our players last night and you would not think it was only his second super league game, I was majorly impressed with Liam, we have a star on our hands. Thought Jonny Walker didn't let anyone down as well, as expected he got stuck in, took some good ball and was involved in plenty of tackles. Feka and Riddell also had very good games I thought.
Looking ahead to next week I would drop mossop because I thought he was pretty poor and try so hard to get Lockers back at loose, although he was his usual busy self throughout the game.
Id go with...
1. Phelps
2. Goulding/ Marsh
3. Gleeson
4. Carmont
5. Richards
6. Sam Tomkins
7. Leuluai/Deacon
8. Fielden
9. Riddell
10. Coley
11. Farrell
12. Joel Tomkins
13. O'Loughlin
14. Feka
15. O'Carroll
16. McIllorum
17. Walker

| Last night proved O'Loughlin/Sam wont work. We either need to give Phelps a go at 6, and go with 2 kids on the wings, or we need one of Tommy/Deacon back desperately.
The injuries are a problem, but with some composure last night we would have won.
Ainscough was at fault for the first try, because he seems incapable of jumping. Apart from that he was okay, didnt do anything good or bad tbh.

He did enough to stop Sharp from scoring. That was Bailey's fault more than Ainscough's. The palm back to centre tactic will always work when the centre isn't covered.

Lockers was terrible at 6 wasn't he. The amount of times he went away from his usual game of shipping the ball wide instead choosing to keep on taking the line on wasn't funny! He seemed to have it in his head that he had to play as a natural 6 that will keep on testing the line when it simply isn't his game.
Hopefully Leuluai and/or Deacon will be back next week but if not we can't play Locker there again. I'd be tempted to throw Howarth in at 6 if those guys aren't back.

He isn't a 6. We need to try something else there next week. Phelps would be the choice for me. Ainscough & Goulding/Marsh on wings, Richards @ 1 with Gleeson and Carmont in the centres.
We missed Bailey's defence in centre field.

Lockers should play 6 again tbh. He's a fabulous loose forward and we missed him in that position last night.
I'd agree with your options if Gleeson is back.

Cant blame one player for that loss
win as a team lose as a team
that result came from a few missed tackles out wide, a few missed tackles down the middle, and a lack of completion in the second half.

Correct
Add to that a few poor decisions by the players with ball in hand, particularly in the second half.

It was our 3rd arrogant preformence on the trot with ball in hand. We didn't respect possession again and looked like we thought we should score off every single play.
The 3 offloads in the 2nd half by Fielden, Phelps and then Joel were appalling and as a team we've been coming up with silly play like that since the Salford game.
We need to get back to the basics of respecting the ball, being aggressive in defence and taking our opportunities on the back of that pretty sharpish.

| Suprised it didn't work out with O'Loughlin at stand-off. He has the best passing game in Super League apparently.

He has a very good passing game. Unfortunately from 6 he decided he needed to take the line on down centre field which isn't his game at all as he hardly has blistering speed off the mark or a devastating step. Hope that makes it clearer for the hard of understanding.
