Before posts like this succeed in derailing this thread into yet more tit-for-tat Wigan v Wire name-calling, can I just remind everyone that the subject is the inane Alan Beswick and how we are going to punish him for his comments about Amos's injury.

That's the standard BBC answer. I complained to them about sensationalising the snowy weather we had a few months back (bit of a joke, but I did raise a few good points ) and it follows exactly the same response.

They basically reply with what you have told them and add the additional stuff to bulk it up; whilst also completely covering their backs.

Beswick is just an annoying, ignorant, bigoted, 'know it all', loudmouth, of the type that seems to festoon the airwaves. Why these radio stations think we need to hear the politically correct drivel from these clones, I have no idea. Don't listen to him is what I say.

Standard, stock reply from the BBC. I saw my over comments made by Gabby Logan in respect of Gareth Thomas and how he had been given a fair go by RU since 'coming out'. Now he was switching RL, he could be susceptible to homophobic abuse.

I understand you felt that Gabby Logan implied that Rugby League fans are homophobic during an interview with Scott Quinnell regarding Gareth Thomas.

"it's been such a big year for him, after announcing that he was gay, which in itself is a huge thing in his life, this is obviously a massive move for him...do you think there are fears that he might become a target for homophobic abuse from rugby league fans? To be honest I can't believe anybody could take his comments seriously, I know Beswick is an aggravating git but then again his remark was obviously tongue in cheek. Think this is a mountain/mole-hill scenario.

Beswick has always been and always will be a grade A, first class big mouthed knob, simple as. Maybe he should come down to the DW stadium and discuss his remarks .

Whilst I disagree with the comments, I don't know why people are so upset about the response from the BBC. It is not unusual to use templates in responses to complaints, yet this is clearly not a copy and paste job. They refer to the actual details and explain their thoughts on it (whether you agree with their explanation is a seperate matter).

Things like the last line is a standard line, of course it is, and why wouldn;t it be?

FWIW, I thought the comment was in poor taste, but aren't these guys paid to provoke and be controversial? We can't like everything they say, and had this been about Jonny Wilkinson's injuries, nobody would have said anything, and I would expect a fair few smileys on RL boards.

Unique brand of humour means he thinks he is funny yet everyone else thinks he is a cock but is to polite to say so.
