I'm sure the top people at Warrington will have heard about these problems and will want to nip them in the bud as I'm sure they won't want the HJ to have the same reputation as Wilderspool had.
Last night was an awesome derby enjoyed by two sets of good, passionate supporters. It's just a shame that it was let down slightly by a bunch of trouble makers and I feel sorry for the decent folk of Warrington particularily on these boards who have come across as genuinally sorry and embaressed & it's a shame they have to share the terraces with these set of numpties.
I remember threads before the game being classed as OTT when it came to worrying about crowd trouble and pondering whether to go or take family because of the risk of violence or abuse...Well it shows they were right and it needs addressing, pronto.'"
My wife is adamant that her & The kids won't go there again and it's only because of comments by the OP that make me feel like disagreeing with her.

| I've read the other thread and while expected I do feel that the amount of people putting the boot in to Wire fans in general is uncalled for and poor point scoring all round, it's hurtful really.
Couple of points, the Hull game a couple of years ago was arranged soccer violence, the police sorted it and it was a selection of the Hull 'firm' that hadn't even gone to the game clashing with Utd fans.
Secondly i've been abused at Wigan games, I dont mean to sound awful but we're both poorish towns and there's a lot of uneducated, illiterate folk out there but personally by far the worse is Salford..jeeesus, it's not even the fans though, it's the locals there who are terrible. the sooner Salford get away from the Willows the better.
lastly the RFL can't really do anything otherwise guess what. you'd get people causing trouble just to get their team higher up the league table.
An update from Hogan would be great in a few days and lets get rid of these scum. HATE those sorts of people and eurghhh so annoyed!

The matter is in the hands of the police and I am waiting for them to come back to me after speaking with the Mobile unit who i gave my statement to on Saturday night. Hopefully the CCTV will be suitable to take matters further, as i am fully expecting this guy to be found and prosecuted.
I have also emailed the RFL and Andy Gatcliffe (Warrington Chief Executive) directly to see if we can hopefuly put an end to things like Saturday night. I am fully aware that this isnt the Warrington clubs fault, but hopefully we can get the ball rolling with maybe offering more Police presence/support when fans are leaving the ground and heading into the town centre.
I would like to personally thank the geniune Wire fans who have been in contact with myself though PM and other means. I know for a fact that the people who attacked us all on Saturday are NOT supporters of Warrington Wolves, they are just thugs who take offence to outsiders coming into there town.
Cheers;

| I am truly sorry to read what happened to you and your girlfriend Hogan and like everyone else hope she is fit and well again very soon. I am a lifelong Wigan fan who happens to live in Warrington and have not been in the HJ since the CC semi with Catalans where anyone in a Wigan top, including children, were verbally abused and had things thrown at their cars after they left the match. After that fiasco I was totally ashamed to even live here and it will be a long long time - if ever - before I set foot in that stadium again but as far as I know at least nobody was physically abused on that occasion. Obviously I know quite a lot of Wire fans and have to say that the ones I know are all genuine rugby fans who enjoy a bit of banter and have the same sort of humour that is so wonderful about the RL community however I hope the ones you came in contact with are locked up and banned from ever going near a rugby ground again. Hope all works out well for you both - take care.

| i've lived in warrington all my life, (my dad is from wigan hence why i'm a wigan fan) and i have to say i've had stick all my life. On many occasions with it being nasty for no reason (all through high school, college and now in general). I have never used it against wire and i now work at the club. As staff and as a club i very much enjoy it and find them friendly and a great place to work but as fans i have to say i have never been impressed. Even people i consider my friends every other time of the year, i find over the top "banter" when the weekend comes.
I understand that most wire fans are fine and will go no further than banter, however i do feel wire have a fair share of these "fans" that aren't so nice and it's nothing new. There is a reason wilderspool was nicknamed the zoo. and this isn't the first or the last, I find when a wigan fan at the HJ, wire one of the least friendliest places to visit.
I accept that there are genue fans of warrington that are lovely, and i teach a lot of these fans kids as a coach, but i'm just want to point out to warrington that you also have a lot more not so nice fans then i feel your willing to admitt to. I sure wigan have their share but i'm sick of every year having warrington fans in some kind of incident.
I know its only an opinion and i have not hard proof other than my own experiences but they seem to have more Knobheads than other clubs, and i have been an away fan at every team. I will not bring my 5 and 12 year old god children to warrington, but would happily take them to bradford, huddersfield, leeds even hull kr. Yet i live in great sankey only 10 mins drive from the HJ.
Thanks for your comments and i know your not happy with these animals, but please warrington sort out these pratts you've had for far to long now, the club can only do so much, other fans need to help in preventing these problems too.
I walked home after the cup semi vs catalan too and i was treated discustingly yet again, being spat at and jumped in my face. i'm not lieing, Dennis moran (playing for widnes at the time) drove past in his car and checked we we're alright and told the wire fans to go home, with a few other widnes players backing him up. Similar, not as bad i will add, happened after last years semi.
Sort it out wire, enough is enough.

If you work for Warrington Wolves then you have alot more chance of getting something done about it then anyone else on here, wouldn't it be better talking to someone at the club about it then just bringing it up on a Wigan forum?

What do they say?
I know Hogan has e-mailed someone at the club so hopefully something will come of it for police to be outside the ground.

| just that they are looking in to it. They often say they have done what they can (which i often roll my eyes at) but that outside the ground its the police and fans who need to help the club (which they have a bit of a point, i think peer presure and other fans moving them a long is as effective as any steward).
I try mate and i will keep trying but i am only a community coach and i work for the charity, not only do i need to becareful not to them off as they employ me but also you have as much as an opinion as me, just that i can get to them dirrectly.
I feel sorry for you genuine fans, and i have had nice experiences with warrington fans too, several being best friends of mine, however you do seem to have a lot of idiots, more than other clubs. however i except i'm probably more incline to come across them living in the town.

| When the Hull clubs come to the HJ there is alot of police (from hull I think) inside the ground then they escort them outside as well, I think there just needs to be police along that road and around central station where the trouble has been the past few years and where there is 4 or 5 pubs within 100 yards of each other.

| Hull fans had police escorts out of wrexham yesterday, not that I know why, not the remotest hint of bother there although Wrexham probably is the roughest SL town.

| thats the thing i dont want to see millions of police everywhere every game, i don't think its needed all the time, and these fans that have been priced out of football seem to be targetting rugby league. We as fans as well as the clubs need to address this and not turn our heads when things kick off, but do whats best and tell these s to move a long and go back to their holes.
I feel sometimes hull reputation means they get treated slightly unfairly, they didn't need an escort for the wrexham game, 99% of people know that. But i feel warrington sometimes haven't been recognised for having very simlar fans to hull yet don't get treated the same, why coz they have a cheshire address?
they don't need a big police following for wire v crusader or bradford etc, but big games like wigan it should be in place. The club and the police should judge the situations better than they currently are.

DONT JUST FOLLOW THE TEAM SUPPORT THEM: |
|
| who is to say this mindless thug was a wire fan.from what i hear he came out of a pub near the train station.he may not of even been to the game.
there was a few words exchanged between myself (i was with my small child and im female)a small group of lads who kept shouting at me ''where were you at wembley' so i just replied .. supporting warrington to win the challenge cup...they soon stopped and we ended up having a laugh..sadly some people cant take a simple bit of banter and over react.but having said this the incedent near the train station was disgusting and i think the thug has been caught.
