I was impressed by Hull tonight. Lauiki looked a handful and Sean Long had a very good game. I think it says a lot about his character that he was all for giving the Saints fans some stick during the game (although I am glad that he did it). They will go well this season Hull FC on the back of that performance. I realise Saints only had two substitutes left by the end of the night, but Hull still had to defend their line for long periods of the game and at one point, Saints never looked like scoring, something I have never seen from a St.helens side.
Saints are in trouble. Ade Gardner, James Graham, Fa'asavalu and Soliola all injured and an abysmal performance at home is not a good start to make, but I still expect them to be up there at the end of the season.They seem to always make a slow start to the season. This was just not their night. However the most worrying aspect of that game (from a Saints POV) is the 'performance' of Kyle Eastmond. He was totally outplayed and only really came into life in the last ten minutes. A lot of their success this season depends on the performances of Kyle Eastmond and how he adapts to replacing Sean Long. A lot of expectation, and pressure is on this kid to perform and I wonder how he will fair after 28 rounds of Super League. Oh, and if James Graham ever gets injured for a significant amount of time they are screwed.

Although I don't rate Potter that much, that is a big knee jerk reaction.
Saints will be in the top four this season and will play much better than that. Tonight just wasn't their night.
