Quote: RescuedBlue "Think you've missed the point

Brian McDermott has apparantly said that "Billy Slater is not an incredibly more skilful player than Kevin Sinfield"

I'm agreeing with him

Faster, more dangerous running at speed, better support player, more flair - but more skilful? Probably not

Who would you rather have in your team? Totally different question

But I am commenting on McDermott's quote. You aren't.'"

This is like saying Ronaldo isnt much better than Jimmy Bullard, or that Winston Churchill is only a bit better than Gordon Brown.

There isn't a player in Super League that is in the same class as Slater. Stop defending your precious sinfield and accept that he isn't the same class as one of the best players in the world. Its laughable.

Oh, and btw, Slater is much more skillfull than Sinfield.

Search Billy Slater in youtube, watch the video called 'Billy Slater Highlights' Now search Kevin Sinfield. You have a choice of sinfield talking, sinfield talking, sinfield talking, sinfield talking, sinfield talking, sinfield talking, sinfield talking or some video of sinfield kicking a goal that someone has taken on their phone.

Clearly nobody has realised the skill the Sinfield posses and therefore not made a video of all his tries, bits of skill, tackles and everything else he does with the same class as Slater.

Alternatively, your wrong

As good as Slater is going forward, for a full-back his one on one tackling is poor to say the least.

Next he'll be claiming Garry "never won a major domestic trophy because of Wigan" Schofield (*spit*) was the King and not Wally Lewis! icon_lol.gif

don't you just love the off season.

Slater is a friggin' genius and his one on one tackling is superb - just watch ANY state of Origin match.

I agree he is not an incredibly more skilful player, he comes up with some massive errors and his passing is not very consistent at all. I do not rate Slater as a very skilful player certainly nothing special in the skills department.

Physically is where Slated has the edge over every other athlete, he reads the game very well going forward and on kick returns, as well which is a good skill, but his passing lacks consistency, he has no kicking game to speak of and can get caught in defence his ability to read an attacking line is not great, see the Kiwi tries vs Australia which Hohiah i think it was chiming into the line. Also the world cup final.

Sinfield is a pretty skilful player, got a decent kicking game is versatile good passing game, strong defence, so he is a pretty skilful player, physically not nearly as gifted as slated and clearly not in the same class as him as a complete player.

Does anybody remember his comments last year before the season started?

Something along the lines of ''I'll be disappointed if we don't win Super League this season''

Weirdo.

Maybe I should change the title to "Brian McDermott talks bolleaux (as does Jonh) icon_wink.gif

Comparing Sinfield to Slater is like comparing a Ford Focus to a Ferrari.

I cannot believe you are trying to convince people that Slater is gash. icon_eek.gif

lol - Sinfield is in the bracket of the the modern day rugby league star as trumped up by Sky every week - great club man but average all rounder who looks good in an extremely average league.

Of course we'd all love him at our club as he has the attributes to succeed in an everage league against p*** poor opposition.

I am not trying to convince anyone Slater is gash quite the opposite in fact he is a brilliant player, his main attribute is his physical prowess though not his skill level thats all.

Sinfield if a highly skilled player, Slater does not have in my opinion significantly greater skills than many top players, physically though he is streets ahead and that is what makes him so fantastic.

Skills to me would be ability to read a game, passing, kicking, tackling etc. Slater is World Class Sinfield is not that is obvious but a high level of skill is not what makes Slater so good.
