| Quote: jonh "Was a very tight game but the best team certainly won.
I was slightly dissappointed was very tight with neither team wanting to throw the ball around, very much like a tight first team semi.
Wakefield dominated early doors scoring a nice try in the corner Charnely got totally stood up near the line, leaving a simple pass and walk in for the winger Morton.
Wigan then came back started winning the arm wrestle gaining field position and possession and after a neat kick to the corner left Trinity with no option to take the ball into touch withing a couple of meters from the line. From the scrum simple set move with Wigan's 6 crossing for an easy try, the only time the Trinity defence let itself down all night.
Wigan continued to push for the rest of the half but failed to make the superior field position pay, last 5 of the half Trinity cam back nearly scoring on the bell, and in the following set Wigan brought it away from there line and went the length of the field nearly scoring themselves.
Second half again bit of an arm wrestle but Trinity kicking game and organisation was far superior. Wigan were very one out. Wigan contined to have good field position but looked unorganised and lacking direction.
As the game wore on, Wigan began to get frustrated and a bit of niggle came in, Trinity continued to deffend very well and started to push themselves forward into the game.
A simply penalty directly infront of the sticks gave them an 8 point lead, which they never looked like losing. With 10 to go(ish) a nice attack and chip to the corner resulted in the final try of the game again to Morton I think.
Wigan were out enthused and a poor kicking game and lack of cutting edge near the line, against what was a very good Wakefield defence, was the difference.
Wigan fullback Murphy was our stand out, good last line of defence and real pace going forward.
Good news for me the final will be back at Belle Vue.'"
Can I use this on the site?

| Good honest assessment that mate, couple that with my report on the Wakefield board and you've got yourself a nice article Bilko.
Well played Wigan, your lads got a very good reception coming off at the end and thoroughly deserved it.
See you in the final!

This in fact is wrong, because, both tries from Wakey were scored on the right wing, Matty Crows wing, and not on Josh Charnley's wing who plays on the left.
Just to put the record straight

I may have a spot of mistaken identity, the first try by Morton was scored on the right and went by the player that was listed in the program as Charnley.
The centre that got stepped was the shorter stockier of the 2 that played (although still a big lad) with the pale half afro/matted type boufont hair.
The other centre was taller and leaner looking with darker hair.
Edit apologies Indeed it was not Charnley but the other centre who was stepped for the first try.

Hi, Josh Charnley mailed me today to query the report, and could I rectify the mistake as it makes him look bad.
So just thought I would let you know
And didn't think the visibility was all that good albeit a clear night, maybe the flood-lighting wasn't on full power

Or maybe it was and he's embarrased?
