Quote: gillysmyhero "Just like Aniscough then ? Except that Aniscough scored more trys & is on a lot less money.'"

I was as pi*sed off as anybody when Ainscough was left out for Murryfield and am a huge fan but up until tonight Roberts has been excellent.

We have an embarrasment of riches in the back row and in the outside backs with the likes of Ainscough, Mossop and Flanagan coming through...............we just need a couple of props now.

Quote: LovesToSpooge "Very true both were poor and Saints kicked to Roberts all night long and exploited it, what did Noble are master technician advise the team to do? Kick it dead, I mean come on anybody watching that could tell we should have kicked to Meli except the man in charge.'"

so true - in conditions like that kicking to Meli would probably have resulted in Wigan getting alot more ball in our 20 ..

Quote: MattyB "Made an awesome break in the second half.

For frig sake, not one of his better games but lets cut the guy a little slack.

(or shall we run him out of Wigan shouting burn him, burn him)??'"

You bring the matches and I'll get the pitchforks!!! icon_lol.gif

Joking apart, whilst not one of his better games - he still made a couple of good breaks - he isn't the only player in the league that seems to have butterfingers in the rain.

Phelps dropped one or two, Gardner dropped a few, Meli spilled it, Tomkins lost it 3 times.

Did you see the conditions, or are you just looking to cause an argument as usual?

Sorry i dont agree, yes Ainscough has got a weakness in defence, but so has Roberts as proven tonight. But Ainscogh is more potent in attack.Even Jason Robinson had problems in defence but they were minimised by decent coaches.

pig sick of rubbish spoken on here.

player has a bad game do we

A. support the lad, show him our respect and hopefully have him repay us with better performances in the future

or

B. instantly start a thread calling for his head.

Some fans purposely wait for a poor performance so they can crucify the player, hoping that there criticism will make them appear more knowledgeable about RL.
Pig sick of you all.

(await self righteous postings)

Woh buddy don't forget thats something were lacking, just most people dont see it because they have been swayed with a little bit of decent form, but yes he can be coached to better his game however with Noble in charge I have my Doubts that he will.

Come on Brett. He had a poor game tonight but was still the second best winger on the park.

His form of late has been excellent, he played poorly tonight, move on. In my opinion he was not our worst player tonight.

Don't agree with what bit?

Roberts had a slow start to his Wigan career but has been excellent in the past couple of months.

I think Ainscough is a sensational prospect though and can't wait to see him back in the first team. The times got to be right for that though. He needs 'abit' of work on his game but we also need to try and find a time to put him in when certain people won't be watching his every move in the hope of picking up a flaw in his game.

Unless we get a couple of injuries and don't think we'll see him again this year but 12 or so games as a 19 year old wingman is a nice little taste of first team rugby.

Shame really for Joel.

He's been playing really well recently but errors also seem to have creeped in which is holding him back a little.

I think he just needs to calm down a touch at times. He looks too edgy but i'd sooner have that then somebody who doesn't give a toss.

I know where your coming from but I think the point being made (here and elsewhere) is that certain players are crucified for making errors whilst others seem to be immune.

Totally agree.

I've been a backer of Roberts, Ridell and co all season and have said to give them time. They've both improved hugely recently and a poor game for Roberts tonight won;t change my view on him.

Same as for Joel. He had a stinker tonight but these things happen especially in poor conditions.

Agreed. I've just watched the game again and Roberts handling was shocking. However to say he had a shocking game was far from the truth and his application was a good as in previous weeks. I simply don't think he thrives in those conditions. The same can be said of other players. I wouldn't put it past him to have a blinder next week. maybe there's an argument for playing/dropping players according to the conditions. Just a thought.
