Stick Leon Pryce on the wing or centre if you dont want to use him at 6.
I personally dont think he should get anywhere near an international 6 jersey. IMHO he had his chance in november for that shirt, still a good player though

Quote: wire-quin "Doesn't Ainscough struggle to hold his place at Wigan? Do you think he would be as popular a choice on lets say the Leeds site?

.....Or is this the England side with the most Wigan players we can squeeze in due to it being the Wigan forum-just a thought.

Maybe on the Quins site they would be presenting a case for C Melling to be considered as a 2 or 5 to add to his other cap. Maybe not a popular choice on here as he was released as being inadequate for the mighty Pies

Other considerations for slots could be LMS, Clubb and Purdham all of which are internationals. Maybe TS has a policy of looking at the clubs outside of the top 6 where you, Bradford and Warrington may get inclusions-who knows- Maybe he may just go for form players from form clubs which could exclude some of your suggestions from the cherry and whites-Ainscough included'"

Clubb is very average. Purdham is a steady eddie nothing special lets remember we aren't trying to give the aussies a game we are trying to beat them.

Pryce must play at wing or centre for me, he is a quality player who can be destructive at times, he comes alive when there is a quick play the ball and can be used in this way. He is also bigger and more physical than the likes of Ainscough, Atkins and Gardner. IMO he should play centre as he can create things and he has good hands and decent pace.

Leon Pryce

His game is when the markers are still on the floor or getting back on side he sprints onto the ball first reciever and goes down the middle into the offside opposition and because they are either tired or offside can't tackle him and he makes a break or late in the game when the opposition are tiring he will get the ball off a Cunningham 2 dummy pump then wedge to Long and wedge again to Pryce who will show and go and breaks through.

His game works against weaker and less fit opposition but it doesn't against the best team in the world because they are too good, too drilled and too fit for it to work that's why his game doesn't work at international and thats why he goes missing in big games.

Add to that he can't kick, create or tackle he is not a 6 at international. He could be played as a utility back but he would need to practise at club level to be able to do it at international level.

Im not saying he isn't a good player I'm saying he isn't a good international stand off.

Seeing as its france, i'd like to see a younger side, especially in the backs, such as....

Briscoe
Fox
Shenton
Smith
Hall
S. Tomkins
Myler

Graham
???? Can't think of a starting hooker, and i darent put M**** H*****
Peacock
O'Loughlin [I know hes better at loose, but felt like putting westerman in!]
Ellis
Westerman

Roby
Burgess
LMS [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_McCarthy-Scarsbrook]
Hock

But i expect to see something more like....

Wellens
Smith
Gleeson
Shenton
Gardner
Pryce
Burrow

Graham
Newton [can't think of anyone but roby, but he's off the bench usually]
Peacock
Ellis
Sinfield
O'Loughlin

BENCH
Roby
Morley? or has he retired? if so maybe someone like McGuire as a Utility Back
Burgess
Hock

For me we have to be able to match the Aussies physically to compete with them, we dont usually have a problem with that in the pack but it's the backs where we are sadly lacking. The Aussie have giant backs and we need to match them for size aswell. For this test against the French I think we should blood a few players but not go over board. This is the team I would select if I was the coach.

Briscoe. Shenton. Gleeson. Pryce. Hall. McGuire. Myler. Graham. Roby. Peacock. Burgess. O'Loughlin. Ellis. Subs. Lynch. Morley. Westerman. Langley.

You were doing so Well up until that point! icon_wink.gif

Interesting selection with pryce at Centre and not a bad one for me, maybe he would need a bit of time there to get acustomed but not bad.

Hock would be in there instead of Langley and maybe Fox for Hall????

Sorry, Gareth Hock yes, I knew I'd forgot somebody but couldn't figure out who it was, Yeah Hock is a brilliant player who I would have in the starting line up. I'd put Hock in for O'Loughlin and O'Loughlin on the bench.
I wouldn't put Fox in, he's a titch and we can't afford to have small guys against the Aussies, they'd murder us in the air. I dont think there's anything wrong with Langley, he's a good strong player with some physicallity about him, and he's versatile aswell.
