| Because both players have been here for about 10 games and "Getting Shut" is not as simple an option as you make it sound!
I thought Riddell had improved with every game up until his injury around the Hour Mark at Wakey.
Our Forwards have started to run in better, look better organised and McCollorum seems to be playing better as well. Has that got anything to do with being around Piggy? Maybe not but he certainly wasn't learning anything from One Trick Mick was he?
I wouldn't have brought him back last night, He knocked on twice (I think, and one was in the last minute when we were throwing it anywhere at breakneck sucidal speed) at AHB but other than that I thought he did ok with a couple of good kicks from D/Half (Something else lacking in Higham's game).
What I do know is that No-one is taking us as easy beats antmore and despite Fridays Result I am still confident that we can go anywhere and win.
We won't do it every week but I don't fear going anywhere which is something I haven't felt for 4 or 5 years.

| Riddell hasn't been a disaster of a signing like some in the past and long term will go well for us imo. He's had some decent games whilst he's been here but at the minute he's being outplayed by McIlorum and we need Sam Tomkins spark so Riddell should be playing reserve rugby for the time being.
He'll have to work hard and bide his time for a chance.

The equation with Fat boy should be simple. .......Lose 2 stone or you dont play for wigan. Hes clearly come here on holiday judging by his physique, and nobby must have him on a pie and ale diet at the moment, because he's making a mockery of being a RL player with the amount he is overweight. He is like one of those massive Union props who we point at and laugh and go ' shows you how fit you have to be to play that game!!!'
If the soccer boys saw riddel you'd never stop em laughin. How the hell he can play the most demanding sport on earth though is beyond me....well it isnt....he clearly plays it in patches of 20 minutes as he isnt fit enough for anything else....IMO hes like feka but at least feka has impact when hes on the field....when piggys on he does nothing!
Lets hope the fat boy is homesick of his barbies and fosters and heads off back their quick, freeing up some valuable cap space so we can bring in better players in more suitable positions for the team anyway, we;ve got hooker adequately covered with macca and tommy without this fat lump of lard!

So how does that equate?

I did hear a rumour on Friday that Riddell was going home at the end of the season and that Terry Newton was coming on a two year contract. Bad move IMO if true.

Agreed.
It shows how much standards have fallen at Wigan that Riddell (and to a lesser degree Feka) can be allowed to be so overweight.
Not many Wigan fans seem to be bothered by this though, which is puzzling. You are one of the few other people to point this out.
When we signed Inga he was forced to lose lots of weight despite being a huge name in World rugby.
The fact that someone like Riddell can get away with being 30 pounds overweight tells you all you need to know about how standards have fallen at Wigan.
Our present state isn't just BN's fault, the whole set-up needs a massive shake up if we are ever to compete with the top sides on a consistent basis.

Wouldnt have Newton back now....too old and overweight himself IMO. Gettin shut of the pig would be a nice bonus though. What we need is to get rid of him and bring in a new HB. Hooker is covered with Tommy and Macca, we need to get shut of Fat Boy and bring in a WC half back like Lockyer/ orford/ thurston etc, to play with Tompkins next year and make him even more of a world beater. Lets just hope thats what leneghan is doing in aus at the moment....bringing a new HB home, and negotiating a deal for an NRL club to take a homesick pig off our hands!!

| If Riddell was to leave at the end of the season, i'd want a top quality scrum half to come in so we can play Leuluai/McIlorum as the hookers with Sam at Stand Off.

I would prefere a class stand off and play Sam at scrum half, but would be happy either way.

| not sure about terry newton, although possibly a move back to wigan may rejuvinate him and he would add some weight to the pack. i think riddell does need to go though ,imo he is a joke of a signing can't think what they saw in him in the first place, though i think the money would be better spent on a quality half back and use michael and tommy at hooker. we don't need tim smith either he needs to go, but as for phelps i am beginning to warm to him i think he has got potential and i have been impressed with the fact that he seems to have knuckled down and wants to improve, at least he out of the 3 of them he does seem interested in playing for wigan.

| Why are many writing a player off (Riddell) after only 12 games, and
(Pryce ) after 4 games.
Did you do the same with Pat Richards and Craig Smith?
