| Noble can't seem to do anything right. I was as disappointed as anyone not to see SA in the team for Saints, but i hold my hands up. It was the right decision. As for Wakefield, we all know that Kear is a decent tactician and i'd hate to see SA get murdered by Wakey's kicking game. Seeing that it's a cup game I'm not surprised Noble has decided to leave him out.

| I personally have sympathy for Noble in respect of making these decisions, it can't be easy.
He's now got tough calls all over the place. I can see his reasoning in leaving out Ainscough from the 6 outside backs but I could equally see the logic in leaving out Amos Roberts.
Mcilorum was great at the weekend, possibly his best game ever for the club. But I am also of the opinion (and I realise I may be in the minority) that Riddell has been pretty decent in the last couple of months and does the side really want to be without his experience in the pressure of a cup game? That would be a 50/50 call for me as well.
Harrison Hansen and eventually Eamonn O'Carroll will also eventually provide further competition for first team places and this is just amongst the established first teamers, some more kids in the academy I'm sure will also start to make claims as well.
It is pleasing in the sense that this is Wigan and players should have to fight tooth and nail to get their place. This hasn't been the case whatsoever in recent years.

| To drop the lad from the 17 is pretty poor imo but Noble had his reasons i suppose but to drop him from the 19 is just plain poor.
It sends out a bad message to the lad that he doesn't warrent a place in the best 19 we have to offer which is simply wrong.

But based on your theory he shouldn't play again this season. Surely every coach will have his players bombard the little wing man?

| Tell you something else that wouldn't surprise me whatsoever at the weekend that would probably further anger some Wigan fans - Noble dropping Sam Tomkins.

Surely that can't happen the way that the triangle of Smith, Leuluai and Sam are playing and rotating along with a starting hooker.
It wouldn't suprise me though as i'm not sure if Noble will have the nuts to tell Riddell he'll have to wait his chance for a place.

Noble must take other factors into consideration when picking his team. ie, the opposition team, the tactics they generally employ, the importance of the match, the strengths of the oppo kicking game and those of the wingers who SA could be facing, Picking a team isn't as black and white as we'd like to believe...

| At this stage Noble stands or falls on his results. If everyone's prepared to hound him over losses than he's well within his rights to back his judgement and select the team that he thinks will do the job best for him. I think folk should stop finding things to outrage themselves with - after all the wailing about Ainscough last week his team selection was spot on and took St's apart.

| Frank Winterstein is a fantastic, young player.
I went over to Wakefield the other week to watch our reserves v Wakefield and although we trounced them, he stood out a mile.
One to watch for the future.

| I think the coach should pick the best 19 then 17 to Win The match This week!
End of!
If he thinks Ainscough is or isnt part of that then that's his call.
If he thinks Riddell is part of that then again, that's his call.
If every one of us picked our 19/17 then starting line up and positions we could/would pick 50 different teams. He can't win.
As Maddogg touched on earlier on, We've been crying out for a bigger squad with more options for years and as soon as we have it certains fans don't like it when the coach picks players they wouldn't.
I'll tell you what would be great, having a bare 17 and then losing 4 players last week and losing and then coming here scratching around for a team!
Then you would all be calling for his head again!
I am over the moon that nearly everyones fit & available (Can't wait for O'Carroll to come back into contention either plus I hope that more of the U21's start pushing for a place as well) and I hope that this continues for the next 5 months or so until the end of the season!
I personally hope that players are disappointed every week as this would be a fair indication that we have more players than spots available.
Me personally, I would pick same as last week bar Riddell (If Fully fit) over Mccollorum.
Nothing personal, just my opinion, but you know what? If he picks McCollorum instead and we win - BRILLIANT!
I am absolutely convinced that no other club/team coach gets ripped to shreds like ours from any of the other clubs fans on their forums to the extent that the Wigan club does!

Yeah, he injured his ankle at the magic weekend.
Big shame, as he's been one of our stand out players so far this year!
Although it does give Winterstein a chance to play, and from some accounts...as above, he looks like a decent prospect!
Should be a good game, and hopefully we'll manage to nick a result!
