Given the first two things I look for in a fullback are:
1. Being an excellent tackler
and
2. Safe as houses under the high ball
then the answer is a very definite no.

No because I suspect the cost will be too high. Granted his attacking play is good but tackling/positional play is crucial to the role and in that I thought him lacking.

Call me old fashioned but given the fullback is the last line of defence, that's the number 1 attribute for me. Given how leaky our defence is generally, it's even more important our fullback can tackle. |

I know Lenegan would...he discussed at length how ML did very little to keep Ashton at the club.

Great in attack, very suspect in defence. Granted he was only young at the time but by all accounts had a huge ego back then.

How is he getting on in union? I know last year he scored a million tries in National League 1 but not heard too much about him since Northampton got back into the premiership? I though he might've broke in to the England Saxons (A Team) at least?
I'd take him back straight away, on the right ind of deal anyway.

Atleast if he was a winger he knows how to find gaps and support the man, even if he didnt get much actual service |

| Yes without doubt - I'd take any improvement on mathers, which would probably be anyone who can play fullback in both codes (except Platt ) |
