No, the main point of this is to give the England team a competitive fixture, so it has to be as near as possible to the full England team, injuries (and the NRL lads) apart.

Only for the Exiles, the england squad should be the best 17 whoever.

It should be a mid week game and the teams should consist of the best players out there IMO.

No watering it down or making it fan friendly in anyway shape or form. For me it's a fantastic idea that if allowed to grow and played to it's strengths will catch on like a house on fire.

Let's not devalue it by placing team limits or fan picks.

It should be top players coached by top managers in our best stadia.

Taking injuries into account and the 3 unavailable lads in australia, if i were steve McNamara I would've gone with a 17 of:

1. Sam T
2. McGilvray
3. Cudjoe
4. Shenton
5. Briscoe
6. McGuire
7. Lomax
8. Graham
9. Sinfield
10. Crabtree
11. Westwood
12. Peacock
13. O'Loughlin

14. Robinson
15. Joel Tomkins
16. Mossop
17. Morley

I'll probably get alot of stick for putting Mossop in there but he has been absolutely outstanding for us this season, ive never seen him take a step backwards, he's having a better season than Joel IMO so if hes in there why shouldnt Mossop be? Peacock and Morley are only in there because of the unavailability of Ellis and Burgess but for real games we need to start forgetting about players like that. They are not the future they have been tried and tested and failed. We need to give new faces like Mossop, Lomax, Cudjoe and McGilvaray a chance.

I'd want to see England face the toughest opposition possible.

Outside of the selection of Peacock at second row(where he simply isn't mobile enough to do it anymore) i'd be so much more excited to see a team like that on Friday then I will be at watching the ordinary team selected.

Patten would be a good shout in a better side like the exiles.

Whilst I agree it would be nice to see all SL clubs represented I dont want to see players picked for the simple reason they play for a certain club.

But aren't 5 out of those 7 named half backs with 1 full back in there? Chase is the only Cas representative (I think) so you could only have 1 of those 5 in there at most.

It isn't as simple as saying 1 player from each team, cos as I've just said most of the imports that are good enough to be considered for the Exiles will all be halfbacks for the "lesser" sides.

On the subject of Dureau though, he's only come to light post-selection really. The halfbacks were nailed on well before his class has started to show, if it carries on to next year (which I hope it does, I'm looking forward to the game) he would definately be in contention.

------------------------------------------------------

On the subject of the England team though, it winds me up a bit to see Sinfield at 6 for England, it just seems incredibly short sighted. Sinfield is a decent player, and can do a job a 6. But I'd have to look at it like this, who is more likely to be playing 6 for England in the 4 nations - Sinfield or Lomax?

A. They are young.

B. They are very talented

C. They are at the top of their Game at present .

D. They qualify for England at the first time of asking .

I can't help feeling its all a bit contrived. To me an exiles team without Either monaghan or Ryan Hoffman is laughable, these three are easily the best overseas players in the league at the moment. Two of these at least would be still considered for rep rugby if they were playing in Australia but they can't get in a team of overseas players for a "friendly"

And the England team is garbage but that is too be expected when it is being picked by a coach deemed not good enough to coach a club.

Joel Monaghan is injured, and Hoffman can't get in for them because there is already 3 from Wigan (drop Tommy but he's VC), and the same for MM with Wire, although somehow Anderson is in.
