Looking at the fact that Saints signed Fozzard who had a poor season last year it's not that of a stretch of the imagination to think they looked at him.
I honestly can’t see what peoples problems with the guy are?
Simple yes or no answer on last seasons performances would you take Coley over Leuleui? I would….'"
I haven't really seen enough of Leuleui to comment. From what I have seen I would say he too is average. I'm not saying Coley is a bad player just that he's average as is Fielden and Prescott.

| Coley would walk a game at Leeds as would Fielden and a fitter Paleaaesina.
All are better then Kylie Leuluai and Ryan Bailey.

It's interesting to know what people define as average. None of them are performing at the level of Peacock, Graham and Morley, but as a unit if you cut the stupid brain farts out a little bit they compare very favourably with the 'best' packs albeit a little on the light side (excluding feka ). Hopefully this season will see less brain farts and more size/power (or less size in the case of feka ) coupled with a bit more fire and a few technique improvements, then I wouldn't swap them (as a unit) for anybody else's in the League tbh.

| Another point for this season, will be a fit again O'Carroll and an emerging Ben Davies putting pressure on last season's starting 4 props.

Personally i think Mossop will push past both Prescott and O'Carroll this year to make a place in the 4 his own.

| I doubt Mossop getting past Prescott tbh as a prop.
I'm not saying he's not got the potential to do that but i just feel theres enough room in that backrow for Mossop to make a place his own. It doesn't look like Bailey will be playing in any of the pre season games so i'd expect Mossop to be getting his opportunities in the backrow initially and he's got the talent to nail down one of the 3 spots available(2 starting second rowers and a bench second rower).
He does look a good bet to be a prop in the long term though.

I appreciate I am expecting a lot from some of the younger players but i also think this year could be a big year for Farrell and come the end of the year he too may have pushed himself forward as a real contender for a place in the second row, which is why i think Mossop will make the move forward sooner rather than later.
I do not think this will happen straight from the off by the way I think it will take a little time but I would not be surprised at all to see them both as fixtures in the 17 come the back end of the year.

| I can't wait to see Farrell in first team action. I've been hugely impressed with him everytime i've watched him and really think he can make it big at Wigan.
I'd still guess he's going to have to be patient for a first team chance though and that Mossop will be ahead of him along with the other 3 more experienced guys in the pecking order. If he can fight his way past them before the end of the season he really will be doing well but he's got plenty of talent.
I read a Warrington fan say our squad lacked depth the other day which made me smile. I'd say it's the one thing we don't lack at all. We may be a couple of real star turns away from winning something but we've got cover in all positions imo. We have that because of the amount of quality youngsters pushing through.

Unless I've forgotten someone don't we only have 4 recognised, experienced second rows? Having said that, MM could play Coley or even Piggy at SR so Farrell may well have to wait patiently.

| mossop needs a good couple of years in the second row before moving up to prop at super league level in my opinion, similar to jamie peacock moving up to prop later on in his career, it could reap rewards for mossop who was one of our unsung heroes towards the end of the last year. in the mean time to bring farrell through, why not bring bailey up to prop if required? a squad is the most important thing in this league in terms of rotation because with injuries the likes of ainy, farrell and goulding will all be looking at a few games this year. this is a great problem to have for wigan, all this talent coming through, this influx of talent has come straight out of a winning team and are potentially the best group of youngsters we have brought through for years!

When Mossop was @ the Giants didn't N.Brown see Mossop as a future prop? As for Presscott his ball carrying action worries me, a little. But he has a stop start career so hopefully he will get better with age.

There's a lot of overuse of the word 'average', many people throw it around like if you're not at the pinacle of your position then you're average. Hell even if you are average, it's a team sport and as a collection players sometimes it's even better to have more average than a couple of star turns and some bellow average players. Take a look at the Cowboys for example, best scrum half in the world and a really exciting fullback - it's doing them the power of good isn't it? I'll always remember my dad talking about Swinton in the past when they had a collection of 'average' players but were a really great (and successful team).
Heck the difference in us last season and Leeds wasn't even missing any 'star turns', it's that they were better and more consistent at executing the basics over the course of the season. We actually have a pretty good pack when you look at it as a unit of props and 2nd row if we cut down the mistakes.

The way I tend to look at "average" is as a standard below "world class" and "better than average or good". World class players in Super League IMO are players like Peacock, Graham, Morley etc. Players I'd class as better than average or good would be Lockers, Sinfield etc. Coley IMO then falls into the next category of average along with the majority of players in Super League the standard is that poor.
Now people may disagree with my world class players or better than average ones but that's not the point I'm just trying to illustrate my definition of average.
