I see that as a great acheivement, if cheapened by the circumstances. Edwards- good player in a team of stars! Honest, that is my view.
The only rugby player I don't like is bailey.
If there should be a statue of edwards there are two (maybe 3) places it should be. The first is outside central park. The other is outside the millenium stadium (maybe the DW) seen as only one of those is possible (Mill), I would wite to them. It would be more appropiate.
My view seems to have lined up with yed. Hanley and murphy are both good shouts
Who would you suggest, who isn't a former wigan player?
We must remember there are a thousand rugby league stories at wembley that don't involve wigan (and many are better).'"
So now his fault is to be in a good team.... Stop making yourself look silly... This is a Wigan board discussing a subject which will inevitably involve OUR big names, and others, which it has. Go back to your own board and have a 3 page discussion about yours...

I don't think you can read.
I won't explain it again.just clarify and summize. Shaun edwards is a rugby union name now.
I will go to an extreme, just for you. No matter what edwards did, he is a rugby union name now! That is incredibley simplistic but you don't seem to understand otherwise.
Many wigan fans say that edwards should be in due to wigan's period of dominance. I am saying that not only is that not in the spirit of rugby leageu but also he is a rugby union name now!

Take your Warrington specs off.
Some posters on here are saying that Wigan bought anyone they wanted. They certainly replaced very good/ great players (the likes of Hanley, Gregory, Goodway etc) but Edwards is sixth on the all time Wigans appearance list so obviously they thought he was one of their most influential players EVER. particularly when you look at the players above him are also five of the all time greats of Rugby League.
wigan.rlfans.com/fusion_pages/in ... age_id=481
Edwards is the most decorated player EVER in Rugby League
He has the most Wembley appearances and Wembley wins (where is the status going to be)
I think he was also the youngest ever winning captain.
It's not his fault that the RFL are stupid and didn't recognise his value to the game (see the article in Fridays Evening Post)

I'm sure you are sincere in your view, but from here it just looks like you want a reason not to agree based purely on club bias. I would be grateful if you could present a Warrington player with comparable credentials at wembly finals that can compete with Shaun's.............. No thought not.'"
What about Richie Mathers, those three try saving tackles he pulled off at Wembley 2010 must be one of the all time great stories of Wembley.
Also being a former Wigan player it keeps the connection with Wigan the most successful team at Wembley.
I think Mathers would be a win-win, accepted by fans of Wigan and Warrington as well as probably Leeds and Cas as well.

then we're both happy.
I would still love to hear a suggestion from you of a player not in a wigan team who deserves a spot.
As I have said Hanley and Murphy are my top two.
Wigan legend and Sts, Leigh and Warrington legend, both GB legends and great ambassadors of the sport.
So who, not a Wigan 'legend', would you put forwards as a suggestion?

No some of us were just lucky we didn't support a team that made Doug Laughton coach.

If posters on the Wigan board are offering suggestions that are obviously causing you so much consternation, there's an obvious solution............

| This statue/RL historicle commemoration ,is supposed to be about RL's History and tradition of playing a Wembley stadium. Now I have nothing against the many great Wigan player's who have left a legacy there, and also on other clubs forums too putting forward names of their own club legends. However I think it should be a statue of Jim Sullivan and Joe Lyman shaking hands before the kick off. That would show 80plus years of playing there. Also I dont like the way people are saying things about the tragic Don Fox, calling him a loser etc.. He had to carry that to his grave ,every where he went he was reminded of it,his family thinks it contributed to his condition
