| Personally hope we haven’t done a deal and have a quality hooker lined up like Dwyer etc.
Powell is a hard worker and does the basics right, which means he gets a place at the right price as a utility squad player. but he’s no controlling hooker and is actually a huge part of why our attack is so woeful....not quick enough in terms of pace or ball distribution to ever get us on the front foot.
If Powell were to leave I’d wish him well and thank him for what he’s given us, but I would see it as a big positive which could make a huge difference in getting us back up there....we certainly shouldn’t be chasing him giving him big contracts..if he can get more elsewhere let him go

Are you joking? Go onto the Leeds site and look at their opinions of Dwyer, I think the phrase headless chicken who can't pass is most often used.

Dwyer isn’t the answer. The flashes of individual moments mask the fact he’s actually a pretty poor player. A headless chicken who kills plenty of attacks with his ball hogging and running down blind alleys.
Powell had a poor season granted but he wasn’t on his own. He was superb in 2020 and hopefully Peet and the rest can get him back to that level. I have high hopes that Brad O’Neill can start to push him and eventually displace him. He looks to have a bit of everything as a hooker. I watched a few games of his for Widnes and he was absolutely superb.

| Also don’t get this obsession with Dwyer. Would rather have Powell every day of the week.

| Powell is much better than Dwyer and as said both Leeds and Warrington fans don’t rate him that highly. He can come on and do a few good dummy half scoots against tired defenders but he has no control over the game, also with the reduced subs I don’t think it’s ideal to have a bench hooker.
That said I don’t think Powell is anywhere near one of the best hookers in the league (probably near the bottom in terms of his attack) and I wouldn’t be breaking the bank for him, he’s a good asset when he’s got good halves who create things but he’s just not someone who can create things consistently himself and with our halfback pairing next season we ideally could do with an extra creative spark.
I would have him behind:
Roby
Clarke
Houghton
McShane
Peats
Parcell
Leeming
Lussick
And maybe Micky Mac

I can only assume it's because he's a Wiganer.

He’s a bit of a character as well, so Sky jump on him. He’s a bit Wayne Godwin in that respect. He’s not a bad player but he’s not a very good one either and he’s certainly not up to the task of being the main hooker at a club like Wigan.

He’s very entertaining off the field.
I heard him on a podcast recently and he came across really well.
On the field as you say a very different matter. I like a maverick but one who knows what he is doing.
Re Powell a really good clubman but he has got to step up significantly with ball in hand where, for a former HB is passing and running game isn’t anywhere near the best.
Maybe Peet can reawaken these seemingly lost or discarded skills.
I’d like to see us start with TL and bring on Powell after say 30 minutes or so but playing a more attacking role that he’s become accustomed to.
Can’t see it happening but you never know

Yeah, it’s amazing to think he was a halfback by trade and not just as a junior either.

Had a couple, he is only 3452 behind Chris Hill now. And thats only based on the last 2 seasons. Oh wait a minute he was just tired but it saves using a sub i suppose?

Played hooker for us since 2014… pretty much the majority of his professional career.
I get he was signed as a scrum half and played there in the academy and a bit for the first team but it was so long ago and so early in his development I don’t think you can refer to it.

| I think if Powell was released then O'Neil would obviously get a lot more game time and could share the hooking role with Tommy
