Fully agree. I really do hope he stays on as a director.

| Definitely an uneasy feeling as IL is simply a club legend.
That being said, nothing lasts forever and he's not getting any younger (75yrs old).
I'd add two further things;
1- If this happens then Danson has BIG shoes to fill.
2 - IL deserves a statute outside the DW.

Wealth can be important when it comes to Marquee players, not that we will but we could pay Tedesco and Munster £5mil a year and stay well within the cap.
No salary cap restrictions on coach and backroom staff.
In an dream world IL would still run the club with this guy as a silent financial backer.
If its true and IL leaves, THANK YOU IL!

| Perhaps IL is to stay at the club as Chief Executive or some similar title. As good an owner Danson could turn out to be in the interim IL's Rugby knowledge with regard to the club, SL, RFL & Intl Rugby League has to be greater than Danson's. It's hard to imagine IL is just walking away.
As has been mentioned, maybe Danson is to buy Wigan RL, Latics and the stadium. He shouldn't stir up the animosity from 'tics fans that IL did when he first mooted bidding for the soccer club.
If it's true that Mike Danson is worth £1.1bn then that's a staggering amount of money.

| Ian Lenagan goes down as a legend of this club for me. We were in a mess when he took over and since then the club has been transformed. Every decision may not have been popular but he’s got most right and has been fantastic for us. If he is going to sell up then he will be missed IMO. This new guy has plenty of money but any change of ownership always brings worry. I just hope we stick to the model of developing our own and giving the youth its chance.

Great idea.
If I was Danson and I owned both clubs, then not only would I be looking to keep IL around for this RL knowledge, I'd be wanting his footy knowledge too. We tend to forget he's got a pedigree in football that's up there with his one in rugby.

| My main concern is that the article says Danson is a football fan and his interest in Wigan RL shares may be linked to strengthening his bid for the Latics.

Agree 100% that if the rumours are true then hopefully IL remains at the club in an influential role.
If he doesn’t want this then he leaves with my best wishes and thanks. I dread to think where we would be if hadn’t bought the club.
I didn’t think that Danson was the front runner to buy the Latics but I suppose in these strange days anything is possible

This is massive for me. Just a quick look at Warrington shows that massive financial resources don’t mean success.
The core of the team being young local talent is what sets Wigan, Saints and Leeds apart.
IL and Wane made it happen.

| Would be nice as the article suggests if IL stayed on as director. He has done nothing but improve the club and would be sad to see him move on entirely.

| Danson IS NOT interested in buying Latics apparently. His takeover could well be the catalyst behind this ‘major’ prop signing.

| Always felt really lucky that we've had IL as an owner. Hope he stays involved in some capacity if this is true.

Agreed. This ethos must be allowed to continue, I'm sure it will. We still have Rads (assuming he's staying) and he bleeds Wigan RL and everything it's been built on.
