Even last week it was only our backs that got us out of trouble. Mossop and Dudson were the best forwards on the field.'"
By put it to, I mean put in a performance. What’s also important is that the pitch at OT, if we manage to get there, is much wider which suits our play.
I have seen some bad forward performances over the years and that was far from the worst. As others have said, we were simply outplayed on the night.
There is no team better from playing the wounded underdog card than Wigan. Take it out on Salford then take it out on Saints.
For a team that we’re, according to some, fighting relegation earlier this year; to then have the Edwards, Hamlin, Tautai fiasco, I’m just happy to still be 80 mins away from the Grand Final.

Spot on. I didn’t expect us to be anywhere near 2nd never mind to be one game away from Old Trafford. Re group, and go again next week.

To be honest id rather Salford have a crack at Saints than us go through that again. Do you really want 40 putting past us in a GF to them men? I disagree about the wide pitch at OT being an advantage to us. Their forwards will find even more gaps down the middle on a wide pitch. They too have the ability to play wide and go around us if we try to compress in the middle.

We can all agree that that was an awful forward performance tonight but we can’t write off what is a one off game in the Grand Final (provided we get there!). We have that big game, coming from behind to win experience which will work in our favour. I still think Saints will win, utterly regardless of who they play but I don’t believe it’ll be a 40+ pointer.

This. I really fear a worse night than tonight, on a bigger pitch in 2 weeks.

| One assumes the OP missed Leeds 70-0 and Saints 75-0 in consecutive weeks. Wakey 62-0 more recently than that. Everything went wrong for us today and we were well beaten by a very good side. No where near these hysterical levels though.

Which stand were you in tonight?

| It looked a long night after the first set of the game when we made about 20m in six tackles. We just don’t have enough go forward. I said after Salford we would get hammered unless we found a way of making more but we couldn’t do it. I’m not sure if there is an answer but we’ll have to make some changes. Sarginson’s work rate will be valuable, Greenwood has his fault but can make ground so he’ll have to come in and we can’t keep wasting French on the subs bench. A couple of the senior lads really need to respond to that tonight.

I think more than a couple.
Clubb shouldn't feature anywhere near the first team again this season.
Was potentially always on the cards a proper good hiding but it still hurts.
Lam needs to grow a pair and decide why he signed French.
Hopefully we have got all of the shoite out of the way and we get back on the horse next week.
A worrying point for me is that Isa and Farrell have both been very much off their game for the last few weeks after being excellent form prior to that.
Sometimes a kick up the arris is a good thing"

Isa, Farrell and Hardaker for me and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Sadly the forward options are thin on the ground. Greenwood must come in and Navarrete on his day can produce some decent displays when he switches on but it’s few and far between. It’s scraping the barrel really and the majority deserve another chance given their efforts of the past few months.

| That was truly awful and proves a point how far Saints are ahead of us (and the rest of the league), this was however the case last season and last month and they came away with nothing. Let’s see how they cope with the pressure 2 weeks tomorrow.

| We were awful with lots to fix.
However I think Saints just played their best 80 mins of rugby for the season and I can’t see them being able replicate that in the final.
All tonight has done as further nailed on the ‘over whelming favourites’ tag which we all know makes Saints knees wobble.
Saints where always getting to the final and tonight has piled on all that more pressure for the big choke.

| That was men against toddlers tonight. Not helped by ZERO line speed in defence. One step and stop and let their forwards get up a head of steam. Compare how they were in our faces all the time. Basic stuff.
The warning signs were there last week when Mossop and Dodson looked like world beaters because we constantly let them run onto us and didn’t go and meet them. Hopefully Isa finds a pair of boots with studs as he spent most of the game on his backside. Although after that performance he loses his place to Greenwood.

I'd put French at FB and Hardaker at centre.
Smithies to start and Navarette for Clubb.
May not be enough but can't be worse than tonight.
Williams also owes us one after tonight.
Think Friday will be a real tense affair and wouldn't surprise me if Salford do us.
Time for the senior pros to step up.
