Oh wait, when Millward came to Wigan and it was supposedly guaranteed that Sculthorpe and Long would definitely follow. Having said that Noble did bring Fielden.

That was more than just a rumor. If my memory serves me right he was all set to sign but St George wouldn't release him to join us without Mark first confiriming that were he to return to the NRL he'd only join them. He wouldn't commit to that therefore they wouldn't release him hence we didn't sign him.
What a coup it would have been. At that time he was one of the best players in the world and maybe just maybe could have reversed or at least stopped the rot the club was going through at the time. |

One daft rumour was Petro Civoneceva to Saints.
The other quite stupid one was Phil Adamson signing for Saints when they thought they'd signed his brother Matt.
Another real crackpot one was Saints signing Ricky Bibey. They didn't know he was a Wigan player, after a tribunal found in Wigan's favour they had to pay a transfer fee to Wigan for Ricky Bibey.

Lockyer to Wigan, weve had that one every off season for the last 10 years.
As for the Long to Wigan one, Long WAS approached by Wigan but was offered a better contract at Hull.
