| Quote Wiggin Uber Alles="Wiggin Uber Alles"come on now mate, the hunger in the eyes of that team on Saturday, they would have sold their granny's to bring this trophy home to match our other fine trophy already in our cabinet.
It would indeed be a grave matter of deep regret, should Sn Tellins end the season potless after all their claims post season and indeed in the build up to this game, that would just be terrible, and we ought to be cautious wedo not hurt their feelings if this happens by reminding them of this fact
'"
There will be just as much desire on either side on Saturday. I honestly think some Wigan fans are very overconfident. It will be a battle on Saturday and Saints will not be easy to beat at Old Trafford for a 4th consecutive occasion. Saints have the stronger pack and in any game of rugby, a strong pack and good kicking game is very tough to beat. It genuinely is on a knife edge for me and is too close to call.

| Quote FearTheVee="FearTheVee"It's not a fact unfortunately, but nor is 4 GF losses in a row.
Yet!
TBH, losing on Saturday wouldn't hurt anything like as much as the recent losses (especially 08 and 09) as I don't think there's another team that would have managed to reach the GF without both first choice halves and key strike players.
Can't see Leeds without Burrow/McGuire, Wigan without Tomkins/Leuluai, Hudds without Brough/Brown or Wire without Briers/Monaghan making the same impact. A win would be a huge bonus, a loss and I'm still very proud of the effort that's gone into this season and much to look forward to next year.'"
Gordon Bennett if we hear this story about the halves again we will believe it
Its not very becoming to make your excuses for defeat, before you have actually lost the game, it just smacks of covering all bases and shows that you believe Wiggin will win, which will be music to our ears.
So long as, heaven forbid, if you win, you do not come on gloating that you knew all along you would win, because that would be very obvious double dipping ( sorry for the pun ) and we cant have that, with respect.

The last time it rained when these two sides met Wigan won at Knowsley Road.
The conditions have not helped Saints the last three Grand Finals.
I don't think you can say he conditions would be an advantage/disadvantage for any side. They're the same for both teams.
Saints do have big game experience, but so do we. Yes, in recent years they've appeared in more finals, but so had Leeds (as Geoff rightly points out).
No excuses.

Meh - we've got both halves missing and have had for all the play-offs, it's a fact. If that annoys you then apologies, but I'm not sure why we should be compelled to talk about the game without mentioning it

True, but you can add Wilkin/Soliola/Emmitt to that pack, and a far better kicking game in the shape of Matty Smith.
We've been forced to play conservative rugby recently given the absentees and we've adapted to it very well. It wasn't our cup of tea in previous years and it cost us; this year we are well versed in up the jumper and good kick rugby (much as it pains me to say it as a Saints fan . . . . )

| Lets face it Saints have more recent big match Grand Final experience than us.
They know how to lose, whereas we are novices and means we will only know how to win.
I suppose we will just have to settle for that. Oh well, there's always next year.

| No arrogance from any right-minded Saints fan, Wigan are the favourites going into the game for me; by finishing top, you have proved all season you are the team to beat.
From my point of view I just hope the lads turn up and give it everything and we get the odd bounce of the ball which we haven't in the past 3 Grand Finals. I think we're due a bit of good fortune.
A great occasion, 2 great clubs, I just hope we get the result cos it's gonna hurt whoever loses this one.

no, please mention it by all means, but you must then follow up with a prediction, else all you will do is refer to this halves problem for any defeat, as if that would mean you hadnt lost and had been heroic losers with the god given righ to win everything next year while you rent a stadium you arent used to.
If you win you will be saying this makes you some sort of super champions from the gods, as mentioned double dipping and covering all bases, you have to do that subtely if you expect to get away with that tactic
If we followed your logic, every single loss of ours this year has had at least 2 controversial referee decisions that went against us, so we should be claiming that the ref will support Sn Tellins, based on that, giving us an out if we lose, but we dont stoop so low, given we are paragons of virtue

Not sure what you're on about regarding "tactics" on an internet message board discussing a game of rugby, must be some sort of competition for the children.

come on now mate, the point is very clear
you say you have had this "issue" with your halves making you an incredible team that "no other team" could have achieved.
OK fair enough thats a point of view.
But you then go on to say that you win whether Saints win the final or not.
Thats not a prediction, its covering ones ass.
So we are asking you, if Wigan win, will St Helens have lost, yes or no ?
Its just a simple question about that one question, as until now, all you have done is cover your bases.
