| I posted on the Saints site about the England squad that Goulding should go to Aus as backup centre / winger. They didn't agree.
I have been one of his fiercest critics in the past mainly because of his positioning and decision making, but he has had an excellent season, particularly the last couple of months.

| Goulding was in my three in the MotM thread and I feel that was totally justified. He's developed into a top notch winger over this season, and I bet a lot of us honestly didn't expect to see much of him at all. He's been fantastic, and deserves the #2 shirt for 2011 and beyond.
He should be going to the four nations in my view. He's scored a ton of tries and has had a truly spectacular season. Well done Darrell.

No doubt about that - we're the youngest team in SL as well as the best!

| This is the one thing that justifies placing Rugby League over football as my favourite sport. I've loved both since being young, but these days RL is so much better it's unreal. And I'll tell you a big reason why.
In football, teams get excited over some massive, multi-million pound signing from Botswana or somewhere stupid. In Wigan, and indeed across a lot of Super League and Rugby League clubs, we revel in the excitement of seeing our academy players coming through and making a mark, like Sam Tomkins and Darrell Goulding in particular have done in recent times. It really is a testament to the sport that this happens.

| Although his tries show he's great going forward, what I was pleased with was his defence last night, as well as his catching off high bombs. Rarely have I been so confident of our back three (Goulding, Tomkins and Richards) to be able to catch a ball off a bomb, and return it the way all three of them do.
In my opinion, he should have the number 2 shirt next year.

| Regards to people saying 'he doesnt get the credit he deserves' - I think he does. Not heard anyone say a bad word about him since he cemented his place on the wing.
He really is a success story this year after losing his spot in the centre last year and going on loan to Salford his future at Wigan wasnt looking good. But for me he can have the number 2 spot at Wigan for the rest of his career if he carries on playing the way he is.

| He had a stunning game yesterday.
Took his try wonderfully and was unflappable under the high ball.
Speaking of which - was it just me that thought he claimed the high ball, went down to complete the tackle and was then picked up and thrown out of bounds? It was in the second half, with the Wigan fans at his back, during a period of sustained Leeds pressure.

| Yes that happened; Goulding caught the ball and went to ground and made a half attempt at going forward, staying low, but Senior and someone else picked him and threw him into touch and the scrum wet to leeds. One of a couple of things the officials got totally wrong last night.

4916_1342356991.gif Rugby league must be a great game to survive the people who run it.

| Totally agree with all the positive things being said about him, think he has been superb this year and was only saying to my other half last night it is to be hoped he doesn't fancy going to Crusaders seeing as the coach there didn't seem to rate him too highly at all

| He was excellent, but he has been all season. Nothing new for him. Leeds tested him big time with high kicks/in the wind and he dealt with them all - unlike Scott Donald. He proved he can perform in the big, pressure games and he should definitely be on that plane for the Four Nations for me.

| I don't know why he's not being considered for the tour Down Under. He's as good as Gardner when he played for the Test side.

| He really was outstanding last night as he has been for much of the season and I think his run and try were big turning points in the game. He is very underated and does an heck of a lot more than he is given credit for. His try scoring record, not just this season, speaks volumes but he offers so much more than just being a finisher. He makes a lot of hard yards going forward with his drives and scooting and is regularly at, or near, the top of the metres made in a match. He is also very good defensively and is better than most under kicks. The 2 that he took against Leeds were fantastic and I dont think I have seen him drop a kick all season. I still think his best position is centre but he makes a very good winger too.

IMO he's better than Gardner and is still progressing under the new coach, he may well turn out to be a top class winger, he has all the attributes and also seems to have a lot more drive under the new regime.

I checked it on the Sk+HD last night, to be honest he was never really tackled, so Senior was within his rights to drag him over.
Great form he's had this year. The shirt number doesn't matter (as MM said at the start of the year). If he's on form he'll play. The moment he's not, he won't. It's that policy that has been one of the reasons our team has been transformed - no player is an automatic name on the team sheet.
