We missed Amos Roberts and Thomas Leuluai today. Our attack was quite slow compared to the Wakefield game. Cameron Phelps was all at sea today IMO. Gave some awful balls to Darrell Goulding and was in the wrong place a lot in attack. Put his hand up a few times accepting that he was out of place. A bit rusty, but I will cut him some slack because he has missed a few games.'"
I'd agree. I've criticised Tommy in the past but thought we missed him a lot today - not just his step in attack but defensively also (as an aside thought Sam had a great game in defence today).
Goulding deserves some credit for not going into touch more often - he got some poor passes today.
I also thought Phelps was poor by his own standards - both in attack and his positional play in defence. Let's hope he improves with a couple more games under his belt. |

I agree. We definitely missed Tommy's defending. Paul Deacon is not a great defender. He missed two tackles in the build up to Salford's only try. I thought Madge had taken him off because of this, but I'm hearing he might have picked up an injury. His kicking game was pretty good today though. |

Everyone is happy with the way they've played this season and this season is all that matters as far as I’m concerned
As much as some would like to they can't re write history and have us believe all the above were playing as well last season as they are this.

deacon picked a foot injury up shortly after putting in a kick on the 5th tackle. |

He was limping by then.
Before he got injured he put in several good, first time tackles.
The Salford try was lucky, that kick was going dead before it was touched. By Micky Mac I think but I'm not 100% certain. |

Fielden was missed less than I thought he would be because O'Carroll & Prescott stepped up with their game.
Salford won't play much better than that this season, although if they do they are better than many of us think.
From the last few seasons when we've had an underpowered front row we can now take on the best. Fielden's improved contribution is a massive factor in that.
