Of course you dont. Even smaller teams like West Brom sell out the away end as do clubs that travel from opposite ends of the country like Newcastle and Chelsea. I was at the Arsenal match last season on a freebie and the away end was full that day too. That is before you even get to all the local clubs and the likes of Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and Everton. Its okay though it must be true because you put dont in capitals

I could have put the word dont in capitals, stars, inverted commas or swahili its still true.
I would hazard a guess that the average away following is 3000. Seeing as im bored and in one of my defensive modes avoyt the clubs i support, i shall work it out for you.

| Before I do however I'll give you a small fact. The biggest away following last year was 4698 and it wasn't the Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd or Liverpool games.
Want me to go on proving you wrong or are you prepared to admit that you're wrong?

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Considering the rugby away average is well under 900 every year, I think it is pretty clear that Latics attendances see the benefit of large followings.
Not only do the away fans increase the attendance, they make a better atmosphere on a more regular basis and encourage more home fans to attend. Latics have a lot more big games to sell. We only have 3-4 real contests at home every season.
Latics fans have the visits of so many huge clubs to look forward to.

Still doesn't change the fact that both teams average the same number of home fans give or take a few hundred.

You dont half flatter yourself, what are you going on about and what do you want me to admit I am wrong about? You have proved nothing. I dont really care who had the biggest away following and I couldnt give a damn if it was Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd or Liverpool or not. As I said West Brom, Newcastle and Chelsea sold out their last matches so maybe it was them, maybe it was Man City or some other team, but as I said it means sweet fa to the point, that Latics attendances are swelled by away fans, so I couldnt care less. If it was a different club to the ones I mentioned add them to the list that sell out the away end and swell the Latics attendances too. As for proving me wrong you have proved nothing apart from your ability to pluck figures from thin air.

The next minute you are saying
Quote: Conroy "The biggest away following last year was 4698'"
It seems like you dont even know what you are trying to argue or what figures. Also just using the away stand figures isnt even a true reflection as we all know Man Utd, Liverpool (insert whatever team you like here) fans, you know the Wiganers who didnt jump on the Latics bandwagon, who go to watch their team but get tickets in the Latics section from friends, faily members etc.

Your claim was that Latics get 5000 away fans every week. I guessed at it being 3 or 4 times. Turns out, we never got a following anywhere near 5000. In fact the average was 3600. So basically, your claim that Latics crowds are swelled by 5000 away fans is total bull.

| It is hard to get 5,000 fans in the North Stand when 650 of them are covered in black webbing (5400 - 650 = 4,750).
But like you say who cares?
@ Famous - What do you class as a decent crowd for a team that averaged less than 1,800 just 13 years ago?
Can you give any examples of teams in a similar situation, in the same time frames, that have increased their crowds by more?

| With the rugby season now over, why not spend the winter months checking out some of the great Warrington Bands and Original Artists.

Would appreciate it if you could spread the news about the site! Do you watch live music often?
Have you seen a band from/in Warrington you've liked recently?
I've been to a few small shows in Wigan in the past, at The (new) Tavern & The Boulvevard, and I know a couple half decent bands from town, who would you recommend?!
