| Jon Wells put him in his place nicely on a couple of things, I thought.
Another strange comment I thought was in the "ground-sharing" segment, where Hemmings said Wigan & Saints fans would never agree to share a ground - I know it won't happen, but personally I'd rather share with Saints than with Latics. Not only would the pitch keep better, we wouldn't be messed about with fixtures, and we could have a standing area.

| Very pleased with Finch and Lima, but not so keen on signing Alex Reid...

And how professional would Lenagan spitting his dummy out at a few negative comments look?
He would simply be mocked for it, and his points (although vaild) would be ignored.
The management and the fans know what it happening at Wigan is improving us immeasurably and that is good enough for me.
Let the media say what they want, once we start winning trophies (and we will) I'll not care one iota.

Been impressed with Wells when I've seen him. Hope he gets the Sunday night SSN gig off Offiah.

If I were one of their fans I'd be worried about a ground share yet sharing a ground with Saints wouldn't bother me as long as it was easily accessible for our fans yet the RFL would be likely to attempt to force them to merge knowing them so they can introduce a team from Berlin or whatever. Rivalry and history doesn't matter to them when it comes to small clubs.

I agree, nearly started a topic on it. I never normally watch boots n all, only the tries version, but Wells was a breath of fresh air on it, his analysis was superb, more of a tactics show than anything else, which clubs use which moves etc, thats the sort of stuff that well interests me. That and he brings a balance to the debates.

I'd prefer it if they just had the one programme, maybe longer but with a bit of debate rather than two player giving unopposed opinion on two separate programmes. I feel that the job they do on tactics is ok but too limited by the fact they avoid showing any full tries on Boots n All itself. Watched Phil Gould about the Melbourne Storm cap issue and had it happened in this country there's no programme and no presenters at the moment where anyone would take such an issue up with the RFL in such a way.

| I don't understand complaints about the negative publicity arising from announcing three major overseas players at the same time as losing a young British player with enormous potential (according to the Sale media release which I know needs to be taken with a pinch of salt). Did Wigan expect to be congratulated for it by anyone?
The image it sends seems very clear, regardless of the actual way Wigan are moving in terms of promoting young players.

Thats the sort of thing Dave Whelan does. IL is more professional.

| So us signing 3 quality NRL players (which obviously improves the quality in SL ala the Matt King, Matt Orford, Brett Kearney, Brent Webb etc etc signings) and releasing at least 3 overseas players (to keep us under the quota of course) is bad for SL and Wigan?
I'm quite sure that Farrell, Tuson, Tomkins x2, Mellor, Howarth, Prescott, O'Carroll, Mossop (7 of those have all played SL this season at Wigan) and any other youngsters you want to name will learn bundles from Finch, Lima and Hoff that will make them better players in the future and thus improve both England and SL in general.
Our side imo next year will look something like:
Roberts (if he stays of course)
Goulding - Wigan lad
Gleeson - Wigan lad
Carmont
Richards
Sam - Wigan lad and England #6
Finch
Fielden - English
Tommy
Coley - English
Joel - Wigan lad and England International
Hoff
Lockers - Wigan lad and England International
Which leaves the following fighting for bench spots:
McIlorum - English (granted he plays for Ireland)
Prescott - Wigan lad
Tuson - English
Farrell - Wigan lad
Mossop - English
Hock - Wigan lad and probable England International
Lima
O'Carroll - English (granted he plays for Ireland)
Add to that:
Vievers
Mellor (if fit)
Howarth
Davies
Tomkins
Walker
Marsh
Charnley
Yes Eddie, you're bang on - we're killing the game. Time to change the rules again.

I'm sure you said the same thing when Leeds signed Danny Buderus, Greg Eastwood and Brett Delaney

Some of the trolls on here make me laugh.
I had some guy (Non rugby supporter) come up to me at work the other day and he said "I watched your lot on telly on Friday and theyve got a lot of homegrown youngsters havent they?"
I just started laughing and said "according to fans of all the other teams in super league we are the foreign legion!"

Do you never get tired of trotting out cliches? You're talking utter rubbish, mate.
Thornley - mainly at the instigation of his parents and his agent - has been flirting with Rugby Union for the last two years. And given that he's never achieved anything in Rugby League, and doesn't seem too worried about it (he hasn't even appeared in the Wigan first team apart from for 10 minutes in a charity match, during which he didn't distinguish himself), you have to wonder if this second big payday (courtesy of the dumb clucks at Sale) was his plan all along.
This defection has got naff all to do with any signings Wigan have made Down Under. It's been on the cards for ages and ages, long before the Melbourne Storm controversy broke. To say or even imply otherwise is a downright lie.
That's why Wigan fans are irritated. Because yet again people who should know better are telling lies about our club. Now you can sit up there on this unassailable moral high ground that Leeds fans seem to occupy at the moment (though God knows why, when you've got so many imports of your own) and pretend you don't know what the fuss is about ... but I'd like to bet that if public figures started misrepresenting your club's activities, you'd be among the first to complain bitterly.
