Plenty of posts by Wire fans on this forum when they were undefeated not so much after they were giving a schooling tonight.

Be fair ... they thought they were going to go all season without a loss. Twitter told them.

We didn’t think no such thing.

If you would have told me last year we’d win 8 in a row and Wigan would only narrowly beat us to start this season I would bite your hand off.

French’s yardage out of defence is poor he is much more suited to playing fullback. It is no coincidence that our three quarters are now making far more yardage. Having French and Field, who are first class players is a luxury. We only need one of them.'"

There is now way in a million years Peet only plays one of Field or French when fit, nor should he.

Field will play 6 moving forward I’m sure.

Cust is becoming the player we “don’t need” at the moment with the form of Miski, Field, French and O’Neil.

I absolutely agree though that we are a much more balanced team with Miski on the wing and French at fullback. Having 2 concussive carrying wingers suits our game plan way more than having French out there on the edge.

Harry Smith is starting to become the real deal.

Regarding Miski, he’s a ‘keeper’ as far as I’m concerned.

Without repeating some of the earlier comments, what a great performance, no passengers anywhere in the team and, yet again, what a superb advert for Rugby League. No wonder attendances are going through the roof.

When you look at the form of Miski, Ellis and Isa and then think that next year we’re likely to need at least 2 signings in the forwards, that makes Custs position look precarious. There isn’t much doing in the English market and we might need more than just Mago’s quota spot. If Hampshire gets back ok from this injury and looks like he could provide halfback cover, Cust could well get pushed out.

Was impressed with Wigan last night. Good coaching coming up with effective game plans. He’s getting the best out of players that Lam couldn’t- Shorrocks being a prime example.

You’re hitting hard in defence with great intensity. You dominated the ruck last night and slowed the game right down.

You’d be foolish to move French from 1. He’s unplayable at times and offers so much.

With Cooper and Smithies missing and Singleton going off so early, it was a great effort against the likes of Vaughan and Kasiano.

Miski is a starting player as far as I’m concerned who has won his spot in the 13 at the expense of Cust (indirectly positionally obviously).

Quota spots are key to our recruitment strategy going in to 2024.

We look very healthy in the backs but I wouldn’t be against Miski going if we can find an upgrade. Talk of Daniel Topou being offered to SL he would be a sensation over here but he’d also command a huge wage and I’m not a fan of investing huge money on wingers.

The key question for me centres around Isa if we assume Mago is gone and Cust is surplus to requirements.

It would be a brave call not to offer him another deal based on his current form, however I personally hope he takes that decision out of our hands as I do worry about the long term impact on his body given the way he plays the game.

I think we probably need to make 3 signings if Isa does retire. With 2 secondrows and 1 prop, and looking at the market they probably all need to be quota players.

Nsemba, Eckersley and Hill stepping up to fringe first team players.

We look to be in great shape as the bigger recruitment strategy seems to be coming to fruition.

Some interesting decisions to be made on Singleton, Cooper, Isa and Cust and hopefully we can come to an agreement over retaining King.

Both teams were missing players. That’s the nature of the sport.

Wigan missing plenty of strike at half with both Field and Cust out and also a long term injured prop in Cooper and a prop injured in the first 5 minutes of the game meaning we ran for 75 minutes with 16 men, also missing Smithies our starting 13.

A good few bleeding hearts amongst the Wire fans not able to recognise or acknowledge that.

Dominate performance, absolutely battered them. If Field had played we’d have won by about 20 odd.

The effort in defence was absolutely incredible. Wire were struggling to make even 30metres a set.

The pattern was

Great kick by Smith
Line speed in defence
Warrington going nowhere
Warrington panic and start throwing offloads or miracle passes
Error.

Without Cust, Field, Cooper, Smithies, Singleton going off immediately that’s outstanding.

Kasiano, Vaughan and McGuire did absolutely nothing. Surely they have some academy props they could play? Like we’ve done for years.

Great win.

Harvie Hill and Junior Nsemba to play next week for me.

You were 1-7 and 10-13 on the team sheet with number 9 on the bench. I know squad numbers mean little these days but I would see that as having all but 2 of your starting 13 out.

Presuming you play with 4 props, you'd have been missing 2, 3 at best from your 17?

We were missing Field, Cooper, Cust and Smithies.

It's a squad game which is where Warrington always suffer. Your cap space is so heavily weighted to your 17 and all these top Aussies there is very little left once you get injuries.

That last bit doesn't apply here, we're specifically missing props, 2 out injured 2 suspended, 1 gone home and not replaced, all of them arguably are first choice cos we can mix and match. If we only had vaughan and maguire and they were out, and we had no back up you'd have a point.

Its 5 missing props. We had two wingers on the bench.
