In that case fair play to Joel. Had it been his brother he would have rolled around on the floor clutching his head then calmly got up and kicked the penalty to touch once it was given.

That's funny. As whenever I see Sam get a high shot, or a pure elbow/forearm to the face I normally just see him get up off the floor a second later and get on with the game.

You all just hate him cos when your sides go out to try and batter him out of the game, he gets up and runs rings around you.

Quote: Ovavoo "Ganson did the right thing when Joel and Yeaman had the initial bust up. That's all it was a bust up, get on with the game. Let's face it, up until that point the game was in contention for being the most boring spectacle since Geoff Boycott opened the batting in a one day match for England. The problem was Joel wanted to kill him. There's a cracking picture on the back of the Evening post. It clearly shows the first contact from Joel to Yeaman was with his free hand, right under the chin. The ball carrying arm and elbow is right behind it though. The intent looks massive, he's even jumped in the air to get a better height advantage, so if the disciplinary people view it this way, then Joel is looking at a hefty ban IMO.

Talk about getting Carried away!! What Joel did was stupid end of, anybody can see that but to talk about lengthy bans is laughable, if there was no fight before this he MAY be looking at a red or Yellow with SOS nothing more. Your description is nothing short of pathetic, first of all you are allowed to put your free hand in the face of the opponent, its called a hand off! secondly "He jumped in the air to get a height advantage"!!! are you for real?? He is a foot taller than Yeamen if he had jumped in the air his arms would have gone right over yeamens head.

At the end of the day anybody could see he was stupid going into the contact like that and if he gets a ban fair enough, you won't hear me complaining as it may be what he needs to learn to take that part of his game away but nobody kid yourselves Hull came to mix it up and Yeamen got what he deserved. I think some people want 26 fairies to run out on to the filed and play tick rugby! occasionally people will step over the mark but that will never change it is rugby!! The fans love it. Theres many a rugby legend and wigan legends who have a nasty streak and its never done them any harm, every team needs them to stop other teams thinking they can rule rough shod over other players.

That pretty much proves that the initial contact was with the chest, that Joel won the collision and pushed outwards and Yeaman slid down and that's when the forearm/elbow made contact with the neck. The second still is the most telling.
I imagine Joel will not face a ban and will get sending off sufficient.

However, all angles have to be taken into consideration.

JT's right forearm may have, initially, made contact with Yeaman's chest, but his left hand made direct contact with his face.

That angle shows Yeaman at Joel's chest height, so after the initial contact and proving that he slipped down whilst making the tackle. Also the left hand makes contact with Yeaman's jaw but his fist isn't clenched.
Wire successfully got Carvell off for a charge of leading with the forearm based on the fact that he didn't clench his fists when going into the tackle claiming it proved there was no intention to injure the player with the forearm.
That picture suggests that it's Joel's left hand that makes the most contact with Yeaman rather than the elbow.

Why is Tomkins leg raised then? Maybe to gain height advantage?,Yeaman slid down icon_lol.gif , all I see is Yeamans head being knocked back by a combination of Tomkins hand and elbow.

Quote: east hull FC fan "Why is Tomkins leg raised then? Maybe to gain height advantage?,Yeaman slid down
His leg is raised because he leans into the tackle to get more force behind when he pushes out. You can see it in the second still above. That picture from behind Yeaman is taken at the same moment as the final still, when Joel is pushing forwards with his left foot, so the right leg is raised for the next stride (the basic principles or walking/running/striding).
