I want both of them to play, I want us to beat the best you lot can offer. If we win great, it will instill more belief into the team that we can beat an above average side or if we do lose, we can go away and learn from it, either way Madge will take the positives and we will be a better side for the hit-out... Can't wait for the game.... Just another 5 days at work to get through..

Forget the fact that Briers is an annoying tit to anyone that isn't Primrose and Blue
or the fact that he spent far too much time in the pub
or even the fact that he used to play 50% of the season anonymous.
He is without doubt the cleverest player in Superleague and on top form is untouchable and unplayable.
Tompkins on top form v Briers on top form. Briers any day of the week and that is without the blinkers

The difference is that if Sam stays at Wigan we'll get 10 good years out of him.
When Briers retires he will look back at his career and must think why did I give 10 good months when I could have given 10 good years. He must be gutted he had to leave Saints as well considering the success they had.
He might have a good swansong to his career but for me he wasted it. Should have had far more test honours than 2 caps was it, 1 v France and 1 v New Zealand "A".

Putting my banter aside if you think Sam is better than Lee you know nothing about rugby.
Forget future potential blah blah blah I'm on about THIS week

Briers' coaches have been disciplinarians (Van de Velde) and soft (Cullen) with him. It is Smith's method of discipline that has worked the best for him, obviously.
Overall you are right in what you say, although, he had to leave Saints. Goulding's antics were not so apparent at the time.

| Warrington fans are unbelieveable! If it wasnt so sad it would be funny. Not so long ago most were hoping Briers was off to Barrow so they could 'move on as a team' now he's the best thing since sliced bread. Tomkins isnt even peaking yet and he is as good as/better than Briers at his peak now. It may be your opinion but i know who i would rather have in my team. And i know who most other rugby fans (bar Wire) would rather have in theirs. But i guess we all know nothing about rugby then

| Like him or loath him, on his day Lee Briers is a sublime Rugby League footballer. I've loathed him mainly for what I feel has been a waste of a tremendous talent, the guy could have been GB/England stand off for years. He's capable of bits of skill and game reading that very few players in Super League can even come close to matching.

True. But we seriously underachieved last year, lost our first 5 games before smith took over and found it difficult to recover. Smith had no time to put his own plans into place, pre season had already gone. So it was damage limitation and he went for and won the competition he could realistically win last year, the challenge cup. This year we have had a full pre season under smith and the difference can be seen already. Last year's team would have lost to cas and beat quins by about 12 points. I also believe that HKR over achieved last year and predict a mid table finish for them this year, similar to where yourselves will finish when the novelty value of a new coach wears off and the hiding you take from the first decent team you play this year, wires next saturday, brings you all back down to earth with an almighty bang!
