| Hardest to win yet still the lesser of the 3, which in my view is a bit pathetic, there definitely needs to be something put in to place that actual recognises the achievement of finishing top.

| Perhaps a simple name change would help. e.g. League Winners Shield or, better still, League Champions Shield. I think Smith used the word "champions" not "leaders" after the game last Friday.

There is, they get £50K. I do think that the old Championship Trophy should be used instead of the shield.

Automatic qualification for the Grand Final for finishing 1st in a top 5 play-off system would somewhat solve that problem.
The problem remains is that the RFL probably won't change it.

| Quote Wigan Peer="Wigan Peer"The best team over a season wins the league, it was ever thus.
That team should win the Grand Final, but the playoffs have more than a little of a lottery element to it for me. Whilst i can see the appeal of the playoffs, the LLS is the hardest to win for me.'"
Finishing top of the pile, is a true gauge of the quality of a side over the course of the season addressing every eventuality. Unfortunately, everybody, and I am comfortable in using that sweeping generalisation, has fallen for the hype generated by Sky, that a seven month season only gather importance for four weeks. It is so ridiculous, it borders on the unbelievable.

I'd go with that. Most of the talk on Boots and All last week was who was going to finish 7th and 8th (and then get an absolute hammering in the play-offs). Top of the pile should get a worthwhile cash prize, £200,000 at least.

| What’s in a name? LLS is a rubbish name and trophy for the achievement, hence the derogatory hubcap epithet, and I’m not just saying that because it may be Wigan’s this year. Whoever finishes top of the pile should be “Champions” the winners of the grand final should be just that, Grand Final Winners, GFW. The shield is only like some type of Man of the Match award IMO nothing more.

OR:
Teams 2 through to 9 go through the playoffs as it stands. The winner of the playoffs then play the League Champions, the winner of this will then go to the World Club Challenge.
Just another thought ^^

think 3 weeks without a game would not be ideal for the team finishing top

They could have warm up games with the non qualifying 3 teams maybe? Keeps everyone involved then.
