| Quote: Rogues Gallery "As someone who has watched every team that Wane has coached from U16's/U18's/ reserves to first team I can honestly say that yesterday was the most unlike Wane team performance I have ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen one of his teams "throw the towel in" before.
After 20 minutes the game was only 6 - 0 and then came the first interchanges, Mossop and Clubb off replaced by Tautai and Burke. From then on the game just went away from Wigan.
To be fair to Wakefield, they played some great rugby and with the amount of possession they had they took Wigan apart.
With such an inexperienced back line I think Wigan should have gone boring, five drives and a kick and hoped for errors.
I can understand the lack of precision in the attacking side of the game when you are missing four of your biggest metre makers, but that should not transfer to the
defensive/ tackling side of the game.
I hope Radlinski goes in to the young players and reminds them of his first team debut.
On a lighter note, my shower new gel appears to be working. Saints fans who have avoided me for the last three weeks all wanted to talk to me today.'"
I can only agree which this, with so many injuries and a virus which has had many players in bad shape this week. After 20 mins there were a number of players who looked tired and lethargic, as all know that this sport demands that participants are at their highest levels of fitness.
A virus, injuries and disruption due to so many new faces joining the team are clearly going to have an impact. I wasn't expecting the impact to be quite so big, in the second half the team looked defeated, heads down if you like. With little left in the tank, no game breaking players and no end to the onslaught it's hardly surprising to see just how bad the team were. I remember watching a passing move in the second half which seemed to go through 25, 26, 27, 29 and 30.
Looking back, I'm wondering how bad the virus was. Last weekend Hearts called off a game due to sickness, if it's that bad an impact then why do the same in a League game? We were able to field a team, but how many were ill when playing? Obviously we are all too manly for that kind of thing!

| If you have Wigan TV, watch the interview with Rads. Explains a lot.

| Quote: hengirl "The injury excuse has worn thin for me,many other clubs are blighted by them and arent crying into their milk too much about it,Wane got his excuses in so early with this game the wholeaffair seemed off,if there was a virus, and you have to take their word on that, then why in gods name wasnt the game called off at Wigans insistance? simply put if a virus goes through a club or a place of work then people get it at different times not all at once, sorry that game,if there is a virus should not have been played as Wigan simply did not have the players to put a full strength (or as near as damn it) side out.
I think the last couple of weeks have shown the squad clearly doesnt have the depth people thought it had,the asset stripping of seasons past has come home to roost in my view, filling it full of untried kids who may well in years to come be Wigans future isnt the way to run a club,Lenegan and Radlinski need to sort the recruitment policy (if there is one)out and get a player or two in shaprish,a fullback and hooker would do for starters surely our old boss in audtralia knows of a player or two not getting a game in the nrl and could come over on a short term deal.'"
Sorry to pick your post out there are many others I would also include but I know the scoreline hurts today but I'm not reading anything into that game whatsoever and I dont think anyone else should either. Credit where credit is due and Wakefield played some enterprising rugby too lets not forget but the majority of those Wigan lads on that field have battled a virus all week with no training and that has to be the main contributing factor. We were also without pretty much all our strike players hence we didn't score at all. A couple of the lads had a dig but im not reading anything into that game at all and it has no bearing on our strength in depth either. It's a shame for the kids who were making their debut to have to suffer that defeat but battling a virus all week and then having to put your body on the line when your still ill is no laughing matter.
We will have a few of our strike players back for Cas and Im sure we will be competing again. If you told me we were going to lose 62 nil again next week against Wakefield Id still go and watch the game.

| These kind if games happen and there's nothing that can be taken from the game positive but also negative.
Wakefield caught u on a bad day and they were on form. The next game will show their metal to turn up the next week and playing without the effects the previous result may have.
Not a wane fan I like a physical game but I think he overemphasis this and structured play too much and creativity and playing what's in front of you. There's a balance and in games both quality's are needed
Anyway hope u guys get few players back for our next game

Yep, it explains that Wigan (the club not most of the fans) just can't take a defeat on the chin like every other club manages to do - have to say that video is pathetic and totally lacking dignity

It certainly surprised me that Wigan felt the need to come out and explain things in such depth.
They may throw a few lines in about crediting Wakefield's performance but the fact they've released a video detailing the mitigating circumstances around the defeat does the complete opposite and takes the shine off a great win for them.

Had Wigan won, or the game been a lot closer, that video would never have been made. It's clear someone is trying to save face. I expected better from a club like Wigan. Embarrassing, and totally classless.

I think sometimes you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.
From a personal point of view it didn't address the question that if the virus was so widespread why didn't we seek to have the game postponed.

| Totally sour grapes from Wigan addressing their own fans in that matter. How dare they. Of course, it was simply a case of Wigan being awful and Wakefield being amazing, in fact Wakefield would have beaten an NRL all stars team 62-0 too.
Nothing more to see here..

I get your point in the initial sentence. There'd no doubt be fans demanding some sort of answers or explanation after a heavy defeat like that.
But I still feel that Wigan have, perhaps inadvertently I'm not sure, disrespected Wakefield a little bit and put all the focus on the excuses for losing the game.

| There seems to be a lot of self pity in that video, should have kept it behind closed doors, take it on the chin and move on to the next game. If Powell showed the cas players that video I should imagine they would come out with all guns firing for that first 20 mins.

Rouges, coming from yourself your comment about a Wigan team throwing the towel in will have had more effect with the watchers from the club than any of the comments from the majority on here.
Why do I say that, because in any so called crisis on here before when posters are going over the top, my self included you have always come across as someone who gives a measured view of the problem of the time.

Your chairman is the whiniest of the lot. The amount of times he's publicly slated referees and your team after bad performances is embarrassing.
Oh and because it seemingly has to be stated in every post relating to yesterday's game:
"Well done to Wakefield, they deserved it"

July 2013 ? Come on; I'm sure if you look harder you will find some more recent whines by our Chairman !!
If you look to the last paragraph it says "The Tigers produced the shock of the Super League season at the weekend as they got the better of Wigan, 18-4, at the JJB Stadium."
I hope its not a portent of things to come for you.
