Plenty of memories since i started following Wigan in 2003. My pick is the challenge cup run in 2011. The club had such an electric and atmospheric feel about it back then and its something ill never forget. Amazing times.

Agreed. That Hull away game does not get enough attention. Amazing atmosphere and actually a better game than the Bradford comeback a week earlier. I was lucky enough to be there for all 3!

As someone who played a small part in what I think your referring to when you say " electric and atmospheric feel" i agree it it was a great time.
From late 2009 and all through 2010 and 2011 there were approx 20 people who got together to get some kind of atmosphere etc going
It was luck/coincidence/good timing that it coincided with the madge/wane era along with the emergence of Tonkins (for 3to4 years hebwas virtually unplayable) and others.

The semi final at Wire against Saints was a pinnacle for me of that (from the atmosphere perspective) and the result of 2 years of work/effort from a lot of people.

Wire didnt want us to be able to do flags etc.
A few phone calls Later from the BBC, sky (they had highlights so wanted it to happen as well) the RFL and Wigan (Simon C and Paul Mc) and we were in. We ended up doing more than originally planned

End of the game when Henderson Gill etc walked over and everyone stayed behind for what must have been 30/40 mins was amazing

It was the most enjoyable period I can remember from an atmosphere point of view. You could literally see opposition fans thinking ‘these lot are only meant to chant Wiggin Wiggin Wiggin’. I always remember the play off semi final in 2011 at Widnes against Saints. We got beat but my word, that was some atmosphere in that Wigan end. It literally didn’t stop for 80 mins. A lad I’d started to work with in Manchester started to come to games around that time and was blown away by the atmosphere. He was a big football fan (Man U) and said he’s never realised there would be atmospheres like that in Rugby League. The lad lives in Finland now and still wears his Wigan shirts around Helsinki. The atmosphere of that time really hooked him. It’s something you and all the other people involved can be really proud of.

Hock makes a break and passes to a supporting Tomkins.
Tomkins plants the ball down under the posts and right in front of the baying Saints fans.
He starts running backwards celebrating by cupping his ear.
Saints fans are going absolutely ballistic.
I could watch that 7 days a week.
At that time I think that Tomkins for me is the best player to ever come through the system. A brilliant player grossly underestimated by opposing fans.

My favourite part is a guy in a black jacket, who was sat on the front row of the touch line stand you can see in the background when Sam turns to run backwards. He runs at the barrier ‘air punching’ like he’s imaging he’s smashing Tomkins face in

Thats very true, when you think back to the Warrington challenge cup game when we nearly blew the lead (2012?) but i remember that match for 3 moments of individual brilliance from Sam Tomkins, the insane injection of pace from Andy Coley to score and the Josh Charnley break.

I forgot a moment, Joel Tomkins try at Wembley. Brilliant. I was at Cartmel races and ended up in the local boozer instead of going onto the racecourse. I was stood with 2 Leeds fans and had great banter.

On that, banter wise. Every time i went to Knowsely Road, having to walk through the home end to get to the away bit, i always had banter with the Saints fans, even in the pubs beforehand. Never a hint of violence. Just the way it should be.

That cameo appearance by narked Saints fan just completes it.
My youngest lad starts laughing about that guy by just mentioning his appearance.
