I agree it was deliberate. Im not saying he went for the eye but he certainly went for the face. Whether he had been stepped or not is irrelevant, he purposely lifted his arm. Watching him for the first 3 games he seems a decent attacking player but a bit of a grub.

I think a lot of players would of also done the same, it was a split second decision to stop him and no intent to cause harm imo.

Every player in that situation throws out an arm, to suggest he deliberately attacked his eye though....

Smithies will come in and do 80 minutes leaving a spot open on the bench so I dont think it will hurt the team too much. But for both player and club it's the type of injury you can do without - completely unnecessary.

Just unfortunate with him being wrong footed. Hope he makes a quick recovery, not a good part of the body to injure.
