| Difficult to knitpick over yesterday's result.
Looked like we could score at will in the first half, but the cue was firmly on the rack in the second.
No real complaints about that with next week looming.
Don't like leaking soft points, but Salford's comeback was always going to be too little too late.
The only real worry I have is how weak we looked under the high ball. A really good field-kicker could give us quite a few problems if we don't remedy that.

| Having seen the scores it did appear that we were full of ideas near their line which was certainly in short supply last year.
Thought our pace out wide did Salford as it will a few teams this year.
The second half is a lesson to be learned.

| I thought our attack looked better in the first half than at any time last year. This was solely down to our left edge.
Second half we just couldn't get or keep the ball, I'd love to see the penalty count. It was as though Thaylor was under orders to test our defence ahead of next Sunday. Two unbelievable try saving tackles from Lewis and Tommy.
Some of the team (Lockers, FPN, Tommy) looked rusty. Faz was my MoM and Willie Isa kept going and should have cemented a bench spot for next week, if Bateman returns. Escare had a good debut and Burgess was excellent too. Gildart seemed to get a knock in the second half, hope he gets over that.
Not to labour the point but the game was possibly a micrcosm of what we will get from Tommy. Some unforced errors, great defence, strong running but unbelievable poor kicking. For a world class scrum half, which he is, his kicking really is desperate.

To be fair, we looked like that all last season. I couldn't understand why it wasn't a major tactic for opposition teams. Worked out okay in the end though

Amazing that Salford missed it. By my reckoning, they put up two steeplers and scored (or nearly scored) from both of them.
I don't know how much homework Cronulla have bothered to do on us, but if it works for them once, they'll do it again and again.

| Got the club coach got back to Wigan town centre by what 3.55pm.
Performance was as everyone has said sound in the first half second half not sure what was going on but they looked uninterested really,i suppose it happens when they have what should be a match winning score by half time.
Not bad,but as always room for improvement which you should expect at this time of the year.

| It does indeed. I thought Salford looked really good tonight and they did well to ride the periods when the two Huddersfield starting props have them a head of steam. Gareth O'Brien was exceptional at the back for them.

| Huddersfield were woeful despite what Sky try to tell you. Only players I rate in that set up are Leeming, Cudjo and McGillvrey.
Though year for them this year.

| O'Brien was a satndout for them last night, maybe the Wire should have looked at him before stumping up the cash for Brown. The Giants were always second best when the starting props were interchanged. I was suprised how small Rapira looked after the run by Jones for the try.
The pass by Jones into Brough on the ground was terrible never mind the "spirit of the game", he passed forward into Brough, but then again it couldnt happen to a nicer bloke.
