Well at least everyone can forget " rugby has ruined the pitch " what is it , one game of rugby on it in the last four months , presume we will have to wait until July for a decent surface

That pitch last night was a total disgrace
I have watched amateur games that are played during the winter months that are played on better surfaces than that cow field
Wigan Warriors really need to get a home ground of their own and sharpish
Does IL have the funds to go down this road?

With all honesty I don't think a 4G pitch would improve things a lot, with the water table being so high and the drainage so inadequate, it would be like squelching about on a soggy carpet with Dougie water coming back up through the 4G drainage holes.

Really, the whole thing needs tearing up and doing again properly, but neither ourselves nor Latics would want to be the ones who gave up some home games to do as I'd imagine it's a lengthy procedure.

We could make Leigh Sports Village a busy place for a couple of months if the decision was made

Exactly right. It's called Marsh Green for a reason. It was simply built in the wrong place, as lots of people said at the time. A better site would be roughly where Tesco car park is now, but...

There was surface water all over the pitch. It simply isn't draining away.

A little common sense must prevail and the Latics Youth Team/U21s should play elsewhere for now.

Pitch was being relaid overnight apparently.

Confirmed on Wigan Athleyics official site. A new pitch will be in place in time for the game against Oldham Saturday.
