Quote jackdog="jackdog"What they need to do is include playoffs and CC in the season ticket...without putting the price up by too much.
People don't go to playoffs, because they are saving their money in case we get to the GF. And because the games are all on tv anyway.
Generally, the continuing emphasis on season tickets and match tickets puts people off. Some people would rather just turn up and pay, and then sit (or stand) where they want. But many clubs make it dearer if you don't buy a ticket in advance.'"
Aren't the playoffs an RFL event though and that's where the GF prize money comes from? The main problem with this format is too many extra games that don't count on a ST come too close together. If a team reaches the CCF, that's potentially 5 or 6 extra games in the space of a couple of months if their team then also reaches the GF. From my own personal POV it's a position I would like us to be in every season, but I can completely understand for families that something has to give and it isn't possible to attend all of them.
At least from next season, there will only be one non-ST game before the GF. The other problem is the current PO system is too long. I dread to think what the attendance will be next week if we lose tonight and need the 2nd chance game. IIRC we got about 6/7k in 2011 when we had a home 2nd chance game against Catalans. Fair enough it will more-than-likely be Wire or Leeds this time but we had a larger core support in 2011. We only got 8k against Leeds in 2012 when we were 80 minutes away from OT.
The most annoying thing is it has been blatantly obvious the fans haven't bought in to this PO format but it's been stuck with for 6 seasons now. Even if they thought they needed to keep it as a top 8 there were much better ways of doing it.
