Sarginson is an odd one for me, I can't really place him in a fixed position. I know he chopped and changed positions when he was at London. He's an excellent natural athlete and is pretty quick with good footwork, but I don't think he has the defensive game to play centre long-term, and he also cuts in a bit too much and isolates his winger. He's well down the pecking order to play in the halves, and Charnley, Burgess and Manfredi are much more natural wingers than he is. Maybe Sarginson's long-term position could be at fullback, particularly if the coaching staff want to use Hampshire at standoff?'"
Was thinking very much the same thing re Sarginson myself. At the moment he's a kind of jack of all trades, master of none.
He does seem a natural athlete and is agile but he doesn't seem to have the kind of rugby brain even young Burgess does (he is a pleasure to watch when in full flight he shows the presence of mind to pass inside to a supporting player which I am not sure Sarge would).
Full back might be an ideal position for him. He is certainly tall enough to compete for the high balls (something I think Hampshire will struggle with) and in joining the line rather than being part of it he has less to do in creating the play if you get my drift.
