Quote Arthur Warrior="Arthur Warrior"I really do feel its the coach thats the issue here. He has changed their style of play and they have not taken to it. They play as though they do not agree with the changes and their hearts are not in it. [uSinfield and the rest of the Leeds players need to mutiny and go back to what they know will win matches[/u.'"
That's what Wigan did under John Dorahy, but that was a very special team of multiple sublime talents. Leeds aren't. In addition, Wigan did it more or less with the blessing of the club's management. I can't see Hetherington admitting that he got it so wrong with his new coach that he'd give his blessing to a massive demonstration of player power.
However, something is clearly going badly wrong at Leeds. I thought both sides last night were mediocre for much of the game. Saints had a brief purple patch in the second half, but aside from that it was a crap, error-strewn contest, with nobody looking genuinely committed. However, Leeds were shockingly bad - not just by their own standards, by any standards.
Players who once tore it up - McGuire, Buderus and Burrow - were totally pedestrian. The forwards looked unfit and unwilling to put their bodies on the line. The whole Leeds attack was clueless. As against Warrington, the few scores they managed were token efforts resulting from the opposition briefly not concentrating.
It may be that McDermott is messing things up, but as others have said, Leeds suddenly look old and tired. I don't rate Sinfield and never have. Last night wasn't the first game I've seen when every decision he made seemed to be the wrong one. But there suddenly looks to be nobody around him who is up to the demands of SL's top tier.
This could be a very long season for the Loiners.
