Well, going off the league tables, results, points etc etc (you know, the things that count as opposed to crowd size, d1ck length etc etc) our rightful place for the last six years has indeed been the Premier League.

IL said at the fans forum it is in our interest they stay in the Prem no doubt because while they do they can afford to play the lions share of the ground upkeep and we get a cheap lease. That comes as no surprise to me and I have thought for some time we get a great ground because the town has a Premiership soccer team.
I have no interest and soccer and I have not lived in Wigan for a long time so don't have to put up with whatever happens on soccer match days but I can see economically it's better for us if they stay up.

What ever you say the op has a point.
For me the turning point was being refused from the moon on a Saturday afternoon for having a Warriors shirt on as they don't allow team colours on Latics match days?? My friend also had a shopping bag searched?
Why should that happen to people who don't go to the games? Why is everyone treated at the same level as some of the scum bags who follow Latics. (btw notice the some and not all)

NO the moon have a rule on LATICS home days which is different to Warrior home game days.
If you can't see that's a problem then I wonder if you have Latics blinkers on.
ATEOTD I can get in the moon wearing a rugby shirt on any other day but not on a Latics match day? What has changed? I've certainly not so it must be the people who are there on football match days which make the Polive turn out in force and force pubs to change thier REGULAR policies. How can you not see that's a problem or issue?
Places in Wigan for 90% of the time are happy to let anyone in wearing what they want without the need to search them also. Only on Latics home days they change? The OP is correct.

| I'm absolutely disgusted! How dare the police/club run a training exercise at a well behaved rugby match. It's disgusting!
I'd guess it's nothing to do with latics' 6 pointer on sunday either.

If that was sarcastic or not the point still is that why do the police need to do it at all for either RL or football?
Surely it's proof that the football generates a more violent and idiotic crowd?

And so what?
I'd rather the police be prepared and ready to control any trouble so as to limit the effect of the rest of the town.
Even as someone who desperately wants the football club down, this thread is bloody pathetic

No. It's just believed that they do. I've been involved in and seen more fracas at rugby games than I have at football games and I've watched both sports across the country for years.

| What a compliment to Wigan and RL that they use our matches as a safe way of practising their tactics for dealing with less well behaved crowds at football games.

| I was waiting near the ticket office and the 2 horses came near that side. A few people asked them questions and they said(well the riders did, not the horses ) that it was a training excercise for them. They complimented rugby supporters, saying it is a good way of the horses getting use to a crowd situation without any danger of there being any trouble.
You could not do this at the football as there is always an element who could cause trouble.(before anyone says i am not anti-football and know most are decent people!)
Basically, we should be proud of our family reputation and take itas a compliment.

Correct, iv been watching Liverpool away from home at most premiership grounds and been to every home game for a few years and the police have it completely under control thsese days, something that SHOULD be brought in for certain RL games i.e Warrington v Wigan, iv seen more scuffles at RL than at the football. Obviously football followings are more male dominated and hooliganism still exists but the technology the police have and intelligence stops it from surfacing.
