just does my head in that the club let so much speculation go on and on by so many different people. NRL, other fans ,Us,the news etc.

Fans need to remember that we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, it is the same when anything happens. Fans forget about the players/coaching staff family, we often forget it is actually their job which they get paid for, there is just as many complications of somebody leaving your own workplace. It is also peaople's lives which are being messed with, we still don't know what happened to Gleeson but why do we deserve to know if Gleeson does not want that?
Lets say FOR EXAMPLE that Gleeson has a bad drinking problem (this is just the sort of situation I can imagine the club wanting to let him go). Does anybody really think Gleeson wants this information being released? Would you want everyone to know if it was you?
As for the Hock situation, the moaning on here about not knowing what was going on was pretty silly. We actually knew what had happened, it was just a case of wanting to know more. We know the punishment which is 2 years and everyone wanted to know if we would keep Hock. The simple answer is I don't think the club knew which decision to make at the time and too right, why say they would definantly keep him only to watch him go back down the same path, no, they assesed his situation and have seen he is keeping himself fit. I am assuming any announcement was made when they were sure he would definantly come back.
As for Madge, the club have said nothing, this either means that nothing has been signed OR it is being kept quiet so we only find out at the end of the season. Either way he is our coach till at least the end of this season.
In answer to the question. Does the club have a duty to tell us what is going on.... YES, we are paying customers.
BUT...
Not in our TIME, but in the TIME of the club and player/person involved. Finally we can not expect to be fed personal information so we can have a lovely thursday afternoon posting in a 70 page thread about how stupid the person has been.

Which was exactly my point earlier why they don't respond to it, it would be never ending. Thankfully Lenegan runs the club in private and not through the media. He's not done too bad so far. |

its a players choice to play for a living many i know have turned down the chance to play pro as they dont want the hassle. if you choose to play pro you cant then complain when questions are being asked you are in the public eye for all to see.
do i think the club have the right to tell us things...no i dont especially regarding legal matters and contracts
however without us there would be no club so i think the club have an obligation to keep fans in the loop |

That responsibility is when it is prudent and right to do so. For example, the Gleeson situation was handled in the right way for me - when it comes to an employee's personnel issues you can't play these out in open. Some people seem to think that just because someone is a rugby player they seem to lose their right to confidentiality when it comes to disciplinary and other HR matters.
With regard to Madge it's still at an early stage, all speculation and if the club responded to every rumour they wouldn't get anything done. If the move to Souths is true if I was Lenegan I wouldn't say anything official until the next coach was agreed and release it at the same time. Maybe he's thinks it might be too soon for Waney and needs to deal with that as the last thing we want is both Madge and Waney leaving.
With regard to fans forums, maybe he's just thinks it's a waste of time given the number of muppets who seem to turn up to these things and ask stupid questions. You just know that if there is one this season, Lenegan will say that he can't say anything in detail about the Gleeson situation but that the first 10 questions will want to know the reasons why.'"
