| From what I've heard about him, I wouldn't describe him as a 'top prospect'. I'd describe him as an okay player in an okay team.

| Quote Andy Greg="Andy Greg"He might have gone due to the fact he would be well into his 20s before he would get 1st team action at Wigan as LF is not a position we are short of young players coming through.'"
If thats the reason then good riddance. You have to earn your place in our team, if he doesnt like that he wouldnt get anywhere at Wigan. Considering some people on here who have seen him a few times dont think hes that good then i doubt anybody at the club will be crying about it

| Quote Coventry Warrior!="Coventry Warrior!"For you to say that he is a massive Wigan fan, however declined our offer, says to me that Warrington have offered him a hell of a lot more and maybe he isnt a big a fan as you say.
IMO I think this is more to do with Warrington being to lazy scout for their own youth players and when a talented Wigan youngster, is in talks before signing a Pro contract, they will try and get in there with more money. Hopefully will come back to bite them on the harris one day.'"
Does that mean Wigan and Saints are lazy as well who both have recently been taking our U15s and U14s?.
Some crap on this thread.

| The lad has probably weighed up his future options.
Wigan have a plethora of young back row forwards, Hansen, Tomkins, Mossop, Farrell,Tuson and Walker.
Behind them in the U18's they have Bridge, Molloy and Hughes.
He would have to be exceptional to get in ahead of those players.

| There's no guarantee he'll make it and if Warrington are offering an extra 5k per year over 3 years for example he'd be mad not to take it.
He could easily be cut from the Wigan squad when he turns 19/20 and be left playing semi-pro/amateur RL.
Good luck to him - i'm sure given he was in negotiations with Wigan already that he's not taken this decision lightly.

| Did Mellor get offered more money? i heard his dad (Sean Mellor) had a fall out with Paul Cullen.
Either way, that was one top prospect that got away.

unsure if sean had a fallout with cullen or not... what i do know is that Joe was more impressed with what wigan had to say to him about his future.. and also what they were offering to put in his pocket.
