I appreciate this is a daft statement somewhat since i have never seen the kid play, but given the way the Aussies talk about him, fans and coaches, i would like to see hi get a call to the 4 Nations squad given just how poor we are in the outside backs.

If nothing else it would be a great experience for him.

Speaking to a few of the Aussie posters they think it's far too early for the lad.
A few of them also commented how desperate we must be to start going on about a lad 99% of us haven't seen play and 90% of us hadn't even heard of until a few days ago

Does make me chuckle the way we've all jumped on the fact that he's young, British and getting games in the NRL (albeit in the reserves).

Maybe he is superb, but for people to be wanting to not only sign him, but have him as our first choice full back without actually having seen him play is incredible.

Phelps had not played a lot and we signed him. Smith and Pryce had not played for a year and we signed them. Hes a bit like McGuire then step up from the class outfit.

Phelps and Smith had plenty of history in the NRL. Phelps played three seasons with at the Bulldogs and Smith was 2005 Dally M Rookie of the Year, beating Greg Inlglis in the process.

Phelps has played more games in 16 months at Wigan then he ever did in the NRL. Wigan took a gamble on him really because he had only played 39 games for the Bulldogs and luckily he's come up trumps and offers good cheap utility value. Perhaps fuel to my theory that the best imports signings are always the ones that are not big names.

Having seen Smith I don't know how he ever won "Rookie of the Year" (hate the term Rookie, it's so american!). I suppose he, and perhap Karl Pryce, lack the talent or will in the head rather than with ball in hand.

I would have Ainscough in the starting line up - either way if that means Roberts out, or Richards full back Phelps out so be it.
