| Quote MattyB="MattyB"Don't think there has ever been another time when the town has been so divided.
This is one reason why the football will struggle to increase attendances.
Only 21K against Liverpool the other night (with over 5,000 Liverpool fans)....tut tut.'"
That 5,000 was just in the South Stand, how many had Liverpool tops on under their jackets in the home stands.

Indeed. In fact this is one of the reasons why there is trouble year after year in the East Stand for this particular fixture.

| A shop is well overdue for both clubs. Whelan decides to put the Latics one at the stadium, fine - I'm sure it will do well.
Having the opportunity to buy rugby merchandise at the stadium and at an outlet in the town centre seems about right to me.

| Surly one in the town centre would be better, and just set up stalls on the 14 or so days that we actually have a match at the stadium.

we have warriors world, and surely a shop at the stadium would benefit fans who go down to buy tickets.
what is the problem with stocking the shop with both teams merchandise?
has whelan got the monk on because hes not creaming owt off our shirt sales?

I agree with that totally.
It has always been ridiculous that the football team has not had a club shop and has had so little for it fans to buy, clubs a couple of leagues down have more for pitys sakes!!
That said I hope that we do have a shop in the town centre imo the current shop is way too small. If we did have a shop in the town centre the facility to sell tickets for our games would be something I think the club should consider.

| doesnt this bit of the article set the alarm bells ringing??
Further announcements on future developments are expected to be made, "as the club looks to establish itself further as a Premier League property", the statement said
paint the stadium blue and white?
remove the red seats and replace with blue?
football posts a permanent fixture?
got me worrying

| Who cares where our shop is, and what the latics are doing. We are Wigan RL and we have a history to be proud of, latics will have afew more years in the premiership and then get relegated and no one will give them a big money take over because the crowds are not big enough, they will become a very average side in the championship.

| Some people have some very short memories when it comes to crowds. We went from getting 3 or 4 thousand a game at the start of the 80s in the second division to getting 14 or 15 thousand 10 years later, yet some are criticising the Latics support for pretty much the same thing that happened to us.
Yet another thread where some people's enormous insecurity about the Latics is there for all to see. I really don't know why some are threatened by them?
