I've always thought Charnley has been a bit error prone. Goulding may not have the same attacking prowess as Charnley, but more often than not he is very safe and error free.
I've been encouraged by Brett Finch after every game. He has improved and seems to have settled in more with the squad. His defence needs to improve and sometimes some passes don't come off, but with time he will fit right in.
Joel Tomkins is in a tricky situation for me. He's being asked to learn a whole new skill set at centre and pretty quickly too. In defence I haven't noticed any mishaps, which is encouraging. It's just his decision making and lack of acceleration that is letting him down. I certainly wouldn't drop him though.
McIlorum has been poor for a few weeks now. His place must be in serious threat with Logan Tomkins doing a superb job at Widnes.
Still I don't feel wholesale changes are needed. With the situation we've found ourselves in (losing WCC, getting over Madge leaving, Gleeson leaving and a new halfback partnership) I think to be second - win our game in hand and we're joint top - does not warrant us to panic. We can still win this league and we can beat Wire in the cup. We've a squad capable of doing it. By the end of June we'll see Andy Coley, Gareth Hock and possibly Stuart Fielden return which will freshen up the side. I'm still confident.
Credit to Les Catalans though. They're a real threat this year. Trent Robinson has turned them around.
