Quote: DannyT "Moore deserves every bit of abuse chucked his way. Blatant cheating by an official.'"

I don't think it was cheating but it is blatant incompetence which was then compounded by an incomptent VR.

Just one of those nights, I’m afraid. And we had plenty under Maguire and Wane, it’s all about the response now.

I thought Leeds were outstanding and rattled us, I just hope we learn how to get back to some sort of game plan, should it happen later on this year. I’d much rather it happen in July than in a knockout game come September

Despite a poor start, Cooper showed in a few carries that he could be a good addition, though his defence needs some work.

Nobody played well but tonight, but Bibby is a major liability in defence and offers nothing with the ball - even when we’ve been playing well he’s been the weak link in the backs. Needs to be dropped next week and Halsall given a chance!

Quote: NickyKiss "Aye, I don’t think it’ll hurt in the long run. It was a shambles from start to end and right across the board. No finger pointing at individuals from me, it was collectively appalling and nobody can walk away pleased with their performance.

An easy one to draw a line under and move on from.'"

I think this is a sensible way to view tonight’s shambolic performance.

I’m currently sat in our hotel room overlooking the cricket ground and adjacent to the rugby stadium. The bas*ards are still whooping away outside, some guy has the mic and it sounds like they are bringing players out, like it’s some type of prize giving or awards ceremony. There is a lot of joviality…

All week in the pre-match interviews they've been going on about not being complacent and respecting Leeds so it was blatantly obvious they were complacent and didn't respect the opposition.
Wane away at Wakefield performance, never in it from minute one, well played Leeds

That happens after every game at Headingley - encourages people to stick around and continue spending £££ with the club.

Leeds were superb!

I said in the car on the way over that if Leeds can a couple of quick tries and the crowd get behind them we could be in trouble.

Very soft underbelly from us, such passive defence on our own goal line.

Newman is some player and has won his England place in my eyes tonight.

The Cooper knock on was a bit of a game changer (felt we were on top and rolling them).

It’s deffo brought everyone down to earth and we’re probably not as good as we think we are.

Going forward,

IMO Cust needs a few weeks on the bench. Defensively very poor, leaves most of the kicking game to Harry Smith and has yet to throw any killer try assists.

We should go French 1, Field 6. We can’t afford for Bevan not to be around the ball. Leeds knew on shift plays they could just target Field. Miski was in decent form post Spurs so give him a go.

Centres also obviously an issue. Think Halsall deserves a go and KPP (first bad game tonight) should go there when Bateman is back.

Disappointing but that’s sport for you. We’re still a good shot at the GF if we play well.

The only highlight tonight was the fact it was a 15 minute drive back home for me.

Hopefully behind closed doors Peet rips into them big time because that performance deserved it - basics that would embarrass a pub team and totally out-enthused by a team missing a number of players. The only time I can remember Leeds not scoring when they got into our twenty was when they kicked in the first half after the breakaway and decided to kick when there was a four on one overlap. The passing wasn't much better.

If ever a performance lost a team their days off that was it - I hope they have enough tackle bags.

Quote: MattyB "So after last night's glorious performance our players are now in recovery ready for Leeds away on Thursday. Meanwhile Leeds are preparing for a tricky away match tonight in Toulouse with a forecast of 35-40 degree heat (so much so they've delayed kick off to the evening).

For Wigan fans I'd say Thursday's game can't come soon enough. It's usually a cracker of a game however the confidence running through the team, the short turnaround for Leeds and the energy sapping high temperatures 'should' see us come home with the win.

Can't wait!'"

Well it was me who started this thread so I thought I'd comment on my early thoughts. Maybe it wasn't just me who had early overconfidence this week (at least I put 'should' and not 'will'), this quickly disappeared in the first ten minutes. What a damp squib of a game that was, Leeds definitely did their homework on us although I feel we were the masters of our own downfall for at least 3 of their tries. Weirdly I think we missed the experience of Singleton and Mago.

Hey-ho. Bad day at the office, Leeds fully deserved the win, let's pick up the pieces and put up a recovery against Hull KR.

Five home games out of the last seven, we should be nailed on for a home semi-final. We just need to get back to basics. If we treat games like a seven aside competition then we will continue to come unstuck. The forwards need to make the hard yards and put us in field position where our backs can work some magic. I am confident we will be going to OT.

Far, far too many errors. Very poor tonight.

And that try between the legs, how on earth was that allowed ?

Your penalised for obstruction, but THAT was allowed ? Even Leeds fans are querying that decision .

Poor performance all round. Isa and Bibby proved once again how much we desperately need 2 centres, surely Halsall should be recalled now?

French/Field tried but were ultimately anonymous - I don’t lay the blame at their feet BTW, it’s just indicative of how poor our offense was on the whole.

Just like beating Hull 60-0 didn’t define our season, losing 42-12 to Leeds doesn’t either. What’s key here is that the players and coaching staff learn the hard lessons taught and improve. Wilkin was spot on in his comment after the game in that “no one outworks St Helens”. We got outworked and outenthused, if we realistically want to win SL that cannot happen again.

Bad loss, bad performance. Learn from it, move on and improve.

Just watched the tries back on Sky this morning . How a team that prides itself on its defence become collectively so poor at tackling is mind boggling .

There was a young blonde schoolgirl in the kids games in front of the Wigan fans a half time that tackled everything .and tackled everything well . The Wigan players could learn a few lessons there . Lol

We lost to a better team on the night,it does not define our great season so far,Leeds deserved it without question.

Done and dusted now, lets move on.
