| That's incredible. Gives Latics a lifeline but also would be massively beneficial for us too in terms of stadium income and shared sponsorships.
Very sad to see all the redundancies today, hope this is sorted quickly or any vacancies within our club are prioritised for ex-Latics staff.

| We suddenly need to remove the off topic bit in the title thread. Fantastic news.

| It just make sense.
Latics might not want to hear it, but they aren't a PL level club as they don't have the support to sustain it. I'd argue the same about them being a championship level side too. They'll always need a big financial backer and, just like under DW, that isn't going to last forever.
They could however be a bit of a force in L1 as they've got great facilities, a good stadium and a decent youth setup too.
IL is a savvy operator and they'll make sure they are competitive, but not overly stretched.

| Makes total sense for both clubs and I genuinely think both will see huge benefits such as split season tickets which will work for both clubs and neither with rent to pay which will definitely increase revenues

| I’m a fan of both but I do lean more towards the rugby and I just can’t see Latics fans in the main going for it. I honestly think there’s a pretty large element who’d rather go bust and form a Phoenix club than jump in to bed with Lenagan and the rugby club. It’s a sad state of affairs but from what I see when I go away watching the football club that will be the case. I don’t think the majority of these guys are old enough to understand why they dislike the rugby club but that doesn’t seem to come in to their thinking.

Good job the fans don't have that much of a say. You only need to look at our own fan base to understand fans shouldn't be involved in the running of a club.

They don’t but if there is enough ill feeling you could understand if Lenagan had a wobble and wondered if it’s all worth it. It’s a ridiculous situation to start with. Some Latics fans don’t like the rugby because of an incident with Maurice Lindsay nearly 40 years ago and comments made by him. He’s not been involved with the club for nearly 15 years now and you hear nothing but praise for Latics from the rugby owner and staff.

I'm not sure they even need a reason. Plenty of football fans have completely bought into the ridiculously OTT promotion that it gets on TV, and simply can't conceive that any other sport holds a candle to it … so much so that an RL-led bid to save their club is being treated as an insult in certain quarters.
However, not all Latics fans are adopting this approach. I've been pleasantly surprised surfing Twitter today by how many seem to have welcomed IL's pitch. Just goes to show that a noisy minority can create a false impression.
One clown even used the reason that 'a lot of Latics fans are also Saints fans, that's why we will never accept it'. Yes, that argument is really going to prove persuasive in a town like Wigan.

I'd say from a Warriors fan point of view the Championship is the best place for them, far fewer games on the pitch than Lg 1/2 and we don't get bored to death by the Linekers of this world about us ruining the pitch if they were ever to get back in the Premier league.

No, but neither would we have to take a home game to Widnes.

| You only have to look at the clowns on Facebook’s “I’m From Wigan Me” to see the level of intelligence fans from both sides are displaying. It’s borderline embarrassing.
I might not be a Latics lover but I can see that this move would hugely benefit both sides. It’s a huge shame that some ‘fans’ are letting their ego and pride cloud their judgement. If anything is going to bring this proposal crashing to the ground (other than financial reasons) it’s this.
