If it wasn't for the BBC wanting to televise this game then I'm pretty sure the Friday night slot would be ours.
Like someone has said above though, If Whelan says no then we all know who to blame.

| On the other side, Latics didn't beat Utd or Arsenal or Newcastle, and will inevitably be relegated , let's go and play the game over there.

| Why is everyone so surprised? This uneasy relationship is just a disaster waiting to happen, and will happen again.
Would those posters who bought IL's party line about it being better for us if the football team aren't relegated care to re-assess their views?

4916_1342356991.gif Rugby league must be a great game to survive the people who run it.

You know very well what I meant. That really isn't the problem with me I just think it is sad that between the football and the "We're showing that game, no we want that game" going on between sky and the Beeb that it looks like both Saints and Wigan fans can't enjoy the game where it was meant to be held as the draw came out. It just seems a shame to me that this great comp is being degraded somewhat by the antics of the media and the footie admin.

| I wonder if the fans offered to volunteer for a clean up operation after playing on Saturday that would help Mr Whelan's logistical problems (and also save him a few bob in the process).
Anyone up for this?

| I find this episode rather amusing.
It's been said by Wigan fans on this very site it's better to be rentboys than to own your own stadium but this situation would suggest otherwise...

Finally found the guts to return to our message board?
Funny ... when you were top dogs there was no getting rid of you, but you've been absent for quite some time. Still, I guess you feel like you're on safe ground tonight.

I'd be up for it, but really IFL should put his hands into his pockets and pay the clean up costs himself.
It can't be that bad, we play at 2.30 the game finishes at 4.30 that gives 23 hours until kick off for the footy to re-mark the pitch and clean up.

| Would they shift one of their Premiership fixtures if we have a home game in the play offs, the dates of which are already set in stone before the following seasons footy fixtures are planned?
I can't see how the term ground share can apply when it appears we're told when we can and can't play at our "home" ground.

Yes I agree with you in that we shouldn't need to do this but it sort of puts DW on the back foot if we make the offer. It would also show IFL/DW how strongly the fans felt about keeping the game at our home.

Maybe start a thread drumming up interest? As people have said it would look bad on RL as a whole if this tie is played at a neutral venue.

| Quote: Madderzahatter "IMO the Reebok's a great shout. If pushed right and treated almost as a mini final we could easily fill the 28,000 capacity. A game like this deserves a big stage, not a small stadium (no disrespect to Leigh or Widnes). Hell, we should borrow the Ethiad or go to Goodison Park. As previously mentioned, drop the ticket price and they will come...'"
I'm not fishing for a reaction here, just been reading everyone's comments with interest. I bought a ticket for the semi last year two hours before KO, no queue and plenty of empty seats. If you can't fill a 13,000 capacity ground how do you expect to fill the Reebok, let alone the Etihad? It would just make a mockery of the sport.
