This has just gone up on the M.E.N. sports page
menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... rike_again
think those posters on another thread, about BBC GMR, thinking people who are concerned about overseas signings affecting our junior production are all anti Wigan might now understand why and before any one shoots me down it's happening at other clubs too.
The sport has lost a very good coach

| With the loss of such a respected coach, is there trouble behind the scenes at Wigan?
You can't blame this loss on the salary cap, he's not gone as an international coach and they can't offer him a good university deal. Why has he left? Did he just fancy a change?

| Once Mick Hogan went to Sale there were always going to be people at Wigan he would target. Which is what is now happening we just need to make sure we fill the vacancy's with people as good if not better. Also MM will want to bring in people that work his way when a new head coach comes in its not unusual for most of the coaching and back room staff to change.
As for younger players going it happens at every club you try to keep the best but that is not always possible.

I'm not sure that Ray Unsworth leaving Wigan - good lad, but he's been around a bit - indicates there are problems at Wigan as much as the appointment of Simmons indicates there are problems at Saints.

Poor efforts both. I'm sure if you really tried you could do better than that.

I'm hoping he's learnt a bit under Sheens, but sometimes these appointments work out, sometimes they don't.

It was a genuine question. Andy Gregs post makes a lot of sense, more so than the post linking to the story that is making out it's devastating for the sport.

The same philosophy applies with Unsworth.
His record at that level is pretty good, but someone at Wigan has decided that he isn't worth what Sale are offering him. He won't be the first coach to have left since the new regime came in, and he won't be the last. It may prove to be a mistake (either for him or for us), or it may not. We have to trust in Lenagan and Maguire.

| People saying that this is just the same as when league took players from union but in reverse are slightly wrong I think.
I can't see any rugby league clubs ostracising players for changing codes, banning them from club events, blacklisting them from party and function invite lists, remoiving their names from club records or scratching out their faces on pictures/photos in the clubhouse.

| What IL has to be slightly careful of, is that MH doesnt cherry pick from the back office. But, this will give MM the chance to appoint another RL person. Im sure he will appoint the right person.

Reading that article just came on the back of me being told something (not from a Saints fan btw) that may indicate that you aren't as wealthy a club as some of your fans like to think you are, it just piqued my interest (and I thought I'd throw a bone out with that initial comment abut trouble at t'mill ).
It's just one of those things, that is just made more likely with Mick Hogans change of jobs. I think Harlequins improving youth system is a legacy of Leneghan's time there, so it's not as if you've got an owner that is likely to let that area slip at all.

Think he's a friend to those players he represents - which is as it should be. Agents shouldn't lean to any club surely.
And.....good luck to Thornley I hope he does well as I would if he signed for anyone!

Sports agents are only interested in one person.
