| I sometimes wonder if some of you lot actually watch Wigan. If you have regularly watched Wigan for the past three seasons (not just the play offs) and are happy with the style and standard of rugby and attitude shown in most games under Noble then good luck to you.

| Quote: DaveO "It's the 34 league games Wigan have lost in three seasons that has frustrated many. He simply has not improved this aspect of the team.
As Cruncher says we can have the discussion IF we get to and win the GF. If we fail to do either then it will have been another season similar to the last two and many have already decided those sort of performances are not enough for him to keep his job.
As to the relegation year the side wasn't that bad. We only brought in two players, Fielden and Dobson and along with Nobby they an the rest of the squad went on to avoid the drop. If we were that bad we would still have gone down.
One of the big reasons IMO we have not kicked on from there under Noble is we never replaced Scott Logan who left at the end of 2006. Add to that Fielden's lack of form and the front row has never been as good as it was back in 2006. Some will blame IL for that as he did say we had enough props so would not be bringing any more in but Noble should have insisted this problem be rectified. There have been enough contracts signed for players since then that one of them should have been for a prop.

You bollocked me so I'm doing the same!

According to IFL.
Yet according to Noble he has never said such a thing.

| Quote: Cruncher "Continuity isn't everything. St Helens broke continuity when they sacked Millward, but the guy they replaced him with made a very good outfit into a team of clinical world-beaters. Under Colin Clark and Alan McInnes, Wigan were finally recrystallising as a major force in RL, but it took Graham Lowe - a coach who was streets ahead in his thinking - to make them REALLY fulfill their potential.
As you say, you haven't watched us "week in week out". We have, and the majority of those who think Noble's time has come do so because they feel we're close to being a top side again but are still unable to put together a consistent run of the sort of form that would see us cruise to cup finals and be fresh for the big day - the way Leeds no doubt will be. Again.
The other thing to remember is that Noble only wanted one more year. That wouldn't have been much good to us either. In replacing him now, we're only doing what we'd have had to do at the end of next year - so much for continuity.
Of course it all depends now on who the new man is. And in that respect, there is still potential for a big embarrassment at Wigan.'"
I did say in nearly all of the most successful teams. Do you not think by bringing a new man in he will have his own coaching methods, which will influence the way the team plays, when they have spent the last 2 or so years getting used to Nobles way? Like i say for me and the majority of successful teams continuity is key. Supposed we will just have to wait and see

If true then there will be too many other considerations for that to happen. He would have to knock back Celtic and presumably we would have to knock back whoever the job has been offered to, assuming it has.

Why would we want him to?

I've never heard Noble deny it.
If he's now saying he wants more than one year, then fair enough - my second point is disproved. The first, however, stands. It's too early to be using this season as a reason for why we should keep Brian Noble. We haven't won anything yet, and generally our form has been poor-to-average.
Yet Nobby still doesn't seem to realise this. According to an interview I've just seen with him on BBC2, whoever coaches Wigan next season will have a tough act to follow.
To me this indicates that he thinks the current standard is acceptable. That may be a boast he can make if we win the Grand Final, but it's a bit ill-advised at this stage given the many games we've lost that we could and should have won, and which would have meant we'd have been the ones with the week off and might well have been the ones making the Clubcall.

Be prepared to be upset then.
You're adopting an unrealistic attitude.
If the deal is already done and the contracts signed, what do you expect the various parties to do?

Yes i will drive him there myself.
I judge him on the last 3 years which as I said have been a transitional period for the club and he has brought us through it, but if we do manage to win the Trophy, i will congratulate him on a job well done a nice way to finish, but sadly the previous 3 years have not been good enough and for that reason I am happy to see him go.

Agreed. It is very difficult to understand where the Noble defenders are coming from.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

An even more bewildering question is why are some Wigan fans so are easily influenced by the likes of Eddie and Stevo? Every week those muppets ask the question why is Noble leaving, despite having criticised him at length themselves earlier in the year for 'failing to promote Wigan youth', and despite knowing that his departure and replacement must have been sorted out weeks if not months ago, when Wigan didn't even look like making the top eight. They know this full well, yet they mischievously make an issue of it every week. And yet some Wigan fans are apparently swayed by them, believing that replacing a head coach is something you can do over a couple of weeks and then, just as easily if necessary, reverse the process.
I understand the frustration that, just as Noble is leaving, he seems to be getting it right. But I'd ask my fellow Wigan fans to remember that this has happened at the end of almost every year since he took over, and yet we've started the following year with a poor pre-season and subsequent rubbish results up until virtually the end of summer. I'd also ask them not to be influenced by the views of Messrs. Hemmings and Stevenson. They do not have Wigan's best interests at heart. They are a pair of journalists, and poor ones at that, who if they can't get a real story will happily stir one up out of nothing, and if it's at Wigan's expense so much the better.
