40218_1286737075.jpg Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill):d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40218.jpg |

| Quote: Cruncher "Other 'villains' who were deemed to have turned their backs on Wigan as juniors were welcomed back into the fold later. Andy Gregory was one, Joe Lydon another, Andy Platt another, and of course Martin Gleeson.'"
Except he didn't turn his back on Wigan. Wigan got rid of him to Widnes and we picked him up from Widnes. I'm sure that originally what he wanted was to play for his home town club.
Quote: Cruncher "It isn't just the attitude around Wigan that he indulges in, but his truly unforgivable sin of making Saints a top side. '"
Well, you need to blame your recruitment staff from way back when because they were the ones who ditched him and allowed him to help make us a top side (he didn't do it singlehandedly you know). He's been very welcome at Saints and continues to be so as long as he puts in the effort. His form and/or attitude has been really bad this season until the last game, strangely enough (after he'd just said his piece to the press), when although he wasn't at his best by any stretch of the imagination, he was a damn sight better than he has been all season.
I wouldn't mind him staying with us another year. I think he has a year left in him. I don't think he has two and I hope the club don't offer him two. If he gets stubborn and stays with two then I would rather either recruit from elsewhere or have one of our young talents take his place. But that's not to say he doesn't still have the ability to tear up the opposition because he does; we just don't see it as often as we used to. He's been an amazing player. It's a shame people have to grow older.

| Quote: 21-12 "Remind me who is top of Super League?? '"
What has that got to do with anything???????
I guess Trent wasn't the best 6 in SL last year cause we were never top of the league? If you’re top of the league then you must be the best player in SL in your chosen position according to your logic?
Quote: 21-12 "Myler has shown glimpses, but not enough for people to start saying "sign him", and would you really want to run with 2 very young half backs next season.
Why you are mentioning Dobson, I really dont know, what you makes you think he'd leave Hull KR? '"
This isn’t about whom or I want to sign or not. My op was in response to you saying Long was currently the best 7 in SL which I’d love to know what you base that on. Dobson currently is the best 7 in SL at this moment in time. It’s not about what he’s done in the past or if he’s failed in the NRL or played x amount of games all it comes down to is that Dobson is arguably in the form of his life and is heads and shoulders above the rest of the 7’s in SL.
Quote: 21-12 "Long would be perfect for 2 years, everyone knows it, nobody wants to admit it. Form is tempory, class is permanent.'"
Believe it or not I’m one of the few who agree with you on this one. Check my post history and you’ll see I made a post about signing Long next season about 2 months ago. He ticks all the boxes as you say-
He’d be relatively cheap compared to Orford & Barrett etc,
He’s a local lad so none quota,
He’s got the kicking game we need currently
He’s been around a winning side most of his professional life
He knows a lot of the current squad
And he could be that guy to give Tomkins that extra swagger needed.
BUT in no way am I having it that he’s the best 7 currently in SL.

He would because superleague is average.
He's a better hooker but still one of the more dangerous halfbacks in superleague.

I'm not so sure on many of those, Van Dyke is a local hero, I'm not overly sure Wire would take him over Monaghan, and all the rest are more creative (I know this is debatable) scrum halves than Leuluai and they'd be struggling with two half backs that are mainly runners.
Horne and Leuluai, Dorn and Leuluai, Brown and Leuluai are all combinations that just wouldn't work.
I'll give you Bradford though

Would it be suggestable that Tommy is more of a 6 than a 7 in that scenario?

But there is a similarity really, a 6 is the running half with the 7 being the creative half? That's why I see S Tomkins as a 6, not 7.

Depends on the style we play, i like to see a bit more first and second reciever stuff than we have seen this year, that being the case i think Tommy is best suited to the second reciever role given our current playing staff, given it seems Tomkins will be in our out of the team if/when Smith returns.
