| Quote Stu M="Stu M"No doubt this is the final year of this side. We are ageing and busted and there’s a big rebuild ahead. We’ve got some outstanding youngsters coming through but they won’t be ready in the next 1-2 years.
Last night was played at a high intensity in very muggy conditions. We were clunky in attack and Welsby was very quiet. To see him described as average on here is laughable though based on last night. Our defence was outstanding in the main and Leigh threw a lot at us. We lost Delaney to a HIA early 2nd half and didn’t give Royle a minute (not sure why) so the forwards did it tough 2nd half.
If Sironen, Hopoate and Hurrell can come back and stay fit we may just have 2-3 big games left in us.
As good as Wigan have looked recently they were poor against Hull in the rain. Grand Finals normally are played in the wet and we have the game plan to play in a big tight game when the ball isn’t thrown around.
Wigan are the form team at the moment no question and would probably start favourites against us but we have a lot of big game players. It’s just if we can squeeze some final energy out of them.'"
I wasn't basing Welsby being average based on last night. I've been banging that drum ever since the sky commentators decided he was the new Jake Trueman (overhyped) I think it equally as laughable that he is lauded as some kind of Billy Slater. I ask again, what exactly is it that makes him some kind of superstar? What does he do that a regular, run of the mill full back doesn't? Does he make breaks and score spectacular try's like Field and French can? Does he has the skill of a Tomkins when he was that age? Or does he just catch the ball and tackle a lot like pretty much every other full back does? Why did he go missing in the world cup? An x-factor player rises to the challenge like Radley did not go hiding.

Have a look at his tries and assists. As good as Field and French are the acid test is the NRL is it not?
I’ll wager a charity bet that Welsby will be playing in the NRL before either of them do again. There’s a reason why they are here and not in the NRL.
Welsby is the best player in SL whether you like it or not.

That’s just my opinion of course. You’re entitled to disagree with it which is fine.

When it comes to the play offs your point about the rain is a very good one. There’s a strong argument to say Wigan are the best fair weather team at present but we have struggled in the wet. Those conditions would suit St Helens & Catalan far more than us.
I’d honestly say there are 5 teams in with a shot of winning it at the moment, that can only be good for the sport.

| Wigan are probably the most consistent of a bunch of inconsistent teams at the top this season. For any of the top 6 teams it all depends who turns up on the day. I wouldn't even say the GF is going to be between teams from the top 3 with enough certainty to put money on it.

To be fair to French, he was a regular in the NRL until he had a falling out over what position he was playing.

You are talking about St Helens I just brought up some points about Wigan on a Wigan board which are also facts.

| Saints are still favourites for me. Marginal but still favourites. If Wigan and Saints bring the best of their defensive intensity to a playoff or final against each other it will be explosive.

| Sort that 9m defensive line that Saints get away with every game and they’ll soon get dumped out of the play offs.

Oh come on Percy was so off side he was lining up with the Leigh players.
James Bell could be looking at a ban with the blatant shoulder charge.
