| If they finish bottom they will go down, the RFL have confirmed the same format for SL next year. That said, they won’t finish bottom.
As for Leeds, they are on a roll but I reckon they will run out of steam before the end of the year, stranger things have happened though.

| Occasionally, these tricky situations arise.
Do we want an old enemy of ours relegated? The only answer possible is of course not.
I well remember when we were facing the drop, and there was near euphoria, not just on the Wire board, but on radio phone-ins etc. Even Simon Moran got in on the act.
But that's a simplistic attitude born of jealousy. In the real world, with Widnes and Bradford long gone, Hull's constant failure to emulate the past and Cas finally punching their own weight rather than above it, we've got so few big hitting clubs left in the British game that we can't afford to lose someone like Warrington just because they've had one poor season. It would be madness to let that happen.
But as others have said, rules are rules.

| As a Wire fan, it's good to hear balanced views on here. Lots of us genuinely fear for our survival in SL this season though given our weekly ability to fold in the last 20 when put under any kind of pressure. Our squad, even with the player churn, should be around the fringes of the top 6 (but probably no higher) and yet we are keeping everything crossed we can beat Toulouse in 2 weeks to save our season. Some of Powell's decision making has been baffling. Oliver Holmes made 20 metres (and played all 80 minutes) last week but still made the 17 the week after - his performances have been appalling but he retains his place while Matty Nicholson was dropped after a great performance v Catalans.
Suffice to say, this year has definitely not been our year. Not looking forward to Friday.

Powell always has and always will go to his most experienced players when he hits bumps in the road. It’s so basic to look at a bad performance and go ‘it’s probably the young boys letting us down here’. I just cannot understand why Nicholson has made that move and that isn’t anti Warrington. In the right circumstances and with a different coach in charge, I would get it but not at the moment. Over the last few weeks we’ve seen Nicholson, Wrench and Thewlis all left out, whilst Holmes, Mautautia, Currie etc just carry on putting in underwhelming performances. It reminds me of Brian Noble’s latter days with us, as a few young boys started pushing through but would always be first to be dropped on a bad performance.

| If we're honest at Warrington, most of us miss the Widnes Derby. A rival going down is funny at first, but the novelty soon wears off. I remember a few years back when Rangers went down; I think even the most ardent Celtic fans would admit to missing the Old Firm derby and wanting Rangers back up.
I agree too that this is a good thread.

| I'm less convinced than some about the rectitude of SL top brass, If ever it did come to the OP's question, although I don't think for a minute that the situation will arise. They hope.

| If(and its a BIG if!)we beat toulouse then they will have to win 4 of their other 5 remaining games. Unless you do some serious damage to our points difference on Friday night!! Basically, it's probably going to come down to that match. Win = safe. Lose it and I'd make wire favourites to go down.

| I can't see Toulouse and Wakefield finishing above Wire simply because there aren't enough winnable games left in the season for that to happen, unless Wire full on capitulation and freak shock results.

I think the full on capitulation is happening already. Losing at home to a completely depleted Hull KR side. I keep saying to myself, 'it's a blip, they will get it right' and then look at how many fixtures are left and time is running out. I want them to get it right, a strong Wire team is good for the league. I can count on one hand the non Wigan televised games ive watched this season and i love RL but the standard is appaling at the minute.. Leeds might be getting it together now so thats a plus. I just don't wan't Warrington to come good under Powell because i can't stand the man but i appreciate him letting us have Cooper.
