I thought there was a noticeably good 'atmosphere' pre-game, lots of fans mingling without any of the usual tense air this fixture generates. Certainly in and around The Rodney.

TBH i don't think it helps having opposite fans segregated into home & away stands ,where the mob mentality of safety in numbers takes over & a bit of banter soon escalates into outright hostility, then spills over to after match trouble. I think life on the terraces was so much better when supporters of both sides were mixed together & meaningful discussions took place on the terraces.

The Locker Cup games used to be bloodbaths.

You weren't the artist I was talking to in the Irish Club were you? That was one of the things that we discussed.

Nor is it a very good idea to allow groups of fans to mix when it comes to Wigan/Warrington games. It'd be a mass brawl.

I've never had any trouble at any RL match I've ever been to (I've been going since 1989/90) but for years I've seen all this stuff on these forums about how dangerous it is and how there are bloodbaths between fans.

To be honest though I do look badass and I presume its because of that when the troublemakers see me they know what's good for them and behave themselves hence me being able to enjoy my sport in peace.

Heaven forbid we get to the stage where fans of one club have to be kept in the ground to let visitors get safely away. That is football not Rugby League.

Our fans have gone down a long way recently.
I used to have a season ticket but work means I can't anymore. Anyway the first game I could make this year was wire at home. The abuse and foul language from the fans there was so bad I haven't actually been to any other game this year because I haven't wanted to as all my rugby going mates are in that stand (we used to be in the east what's it like in the east now?) it's all since there became two of these fan groups one is a good group and the other is just trouble. Im not going to say which is which to avoid confrontation but I'm sure you all know.

They certainly were on the pitch...better than most of the rest of the seasons league games .
